Apparently at one time I contacted a place to get some grant money, I never heard anything from the grant company for about 6 months until today when I recieved a post card from Grand Dept. along with a toll free phone number to call, I called the number and got an automated voice message stating to press 1 to connect to the automated payment agency to pay $60.00 USD + $9.95 shipping and handling. There lies the issue; why should I pay for money that is supposedly mine to get in the grants (or so they say) and what is with the shipping and handling? Why should I pay some idiot to deposit a check made out to them to get my own money? This sounds very much like a scam to me, and I've been contacted over the phone by grant assistance people, each time I tell them to drop my name from their phone list and I do not need/want the grant anymore. this is a major RED FLAG to me that this is a scam. Also, I noted the day I recieved the post card, July 14, 2010. On the card there is an Expiration date of Monday May 31st, 2010... they are a little late, i'd say... this is a sure sign of a SCAM!
