After having a consultation appointment with my oral surgeon whereby he counted and checked my remaining teeth prior to removing all of them, I was quoted a price of $3, 400.00. I was told that the insurance company would only pay approximately $1, 896.00 thereby leaving a balance of $1504.00 which I was told MUST be paid prior to my surgery. My father paid the $1, 504.00 on that same day so that I could go ahead and have my teeth removed. I had recently had an accident and had to have my left hip and upper femur replaced and lost two crowns during that proceedure. Because so many of my crowns and teeth were very loose, the anesthesiologist counted all my teeth so that he could make sure after my surgery that none could have come out and gone down my windpipe and into my lungs which could cause a lifethreating infection. The surgical count is seven teeth less than the number of teeth the oral surgeon's office claims to have removed. While I am not a litigious person, I am preparing a lawsuit against the oral surgeon's office for improper billing or billing that opposes my origional quote. I am sending notification today (08/05/2010) to the oral surgeon to give them one last chance to correct their error.
