Green Tree, a subsidiary of Bank of America, N.A. recently aquired the servicing of my loan. Upon making my first payment via the internet i discovered that because i was scheduling the payment close to the due, still before the due date, i was going to be charged a $12.00 "convience fee". There was no mention on their web site of grace period or the length of time requiered to process a payment by internet. This now of course is going to result in a long wait for customer service to respond to my phone call and a conversation about how to handle payments and avoid the tacked on fees. I believe that mortgage companies are requiered by law to disclose their fee practices and i am wondering why Green Tree has been able to avoid this. It seems like another sleazy move by Bank of America in a long line of shady practices to part good customers from their money while soaking up billions in taxpayers money in bailouts. The Guy that thought this one up must be floating aroound the carribean with a pocket full of bonus money.
