Purchased from Home Depot, Hampton Bay Garrison 52" Ceiling Fan with Remote Control (model number 640-656)

Ceiling Fan was installed properly. Heard a sizzling sound and turned it off, there was a burning smell. My husband started to take it down to research what the burning smell was from. The receiver had melted and was smoking on one side. Thank God we were home, this would have started a fire.

We were going to get a new receiver for the remote, but upon research on the web, found that others described the same exact fire hazard that we encountered.
