"East meets West at Port Jeff Salt Cave, a salt cave located in downtown Port Jefferson, New York, that offers salt inhalation, Reiki, guided meditation, and crystal bowl sound therapies. Founded by husband-and-wife team Rich and Marcy Guzman—registered nurses with more than 35 years of combined experience—Port Jeff Salt Cave is 266 square feet of antibacterial, antiviral, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory space. Employing a continuous fresh air exchange system, the cave is a sterile environment where you can go for alternative and holistic health therapies and experience an overall sense of improved well-being.

For many years, Marcy worked at a private home infusion company managing a Manhattan sales team. Her experience there led her to Weill Cornell Presbyterian Hospital, where she was asked to create and direct aReiki program for the out-patient oncology department.

Reiki is a two-part Japanese word that means universal life source energy (rei) and personal life force energy (ki). A hands-on energy balancing technique, Reiki is used to reduce stress, normalize respiratory and heart rates, reduce inflammation, and enhance the immune system. Utilizing these techniques, Marcy was able to provide an effective, non-pharmacological pain management treatment to patients receiving chemotherapy.
