Don't Waste Your Money!!
In my opinion UMA is a waste of time & $. I took the online billing program for $14, 500. I was told I could make up to $18 an hour as a medical biller. I was told UMA has several job sources available for graduates. I was told there would be externship opportunities. I was further told the online course would be 6 week modules and that if I was not happy with the online course that I could “simply” transfer to the on-campus courses.
I can not get a job making minimum wage let alone $18 an hour. There is no externship at all. Online courses are 4 week modules. I asked to transfer to on-campus because the modules were too condensed and the instructors can not spell and I was correcting them on assessments and I was told could not transfer to on-campus. It took a month to set up a tutor that was few & far between getting appointments with her.
At the end of the horrible online program I was not provided with the state exam information in which I was mislead into thinking it was included in the $14, 500. It is almost $400. I was provided with a link to a website AFTER I inquired about it several times myself at the end of the course. I also inquired several times about the graduation ceremony that I was not invited to attend and never received information on. The only info I did get was that it would cost $25. I am unable to find a job as I have NO experience. My career services consisted of a link to a job fair on Craigslist. I was told to be realistic in my job goals and be happy with a receptionist position. I did not pay all this money to be a receptionist. I have been applying for receptionist jobs, still I have no interviews or job leads. All of my job searches I have done MYSELF. I am unable to receive my certificate of completion from the program because I owe the school $2, 000 in tuition that was not covered by my Stafford loans. I was not told this, I did not agree to this, and I am getting the run around when I inquire about where this is in my admissions documents and where I signed & agreed to it upon entry into the program.
How can I get a job with no experience and no certificate of completion, no certification from the state as I can not afford $400 for the exam because I have to pay the tuition to get the completion certificate so I can get a job as a receptionist.???
