On January 31, 2010, my daughter and guest attended a party at Helen's Restaurant, located at 2527 W. Main St., in Richmond, Virginia. After a period of time she went to the bar and ordered a drink from the bartender who is employed by Helen's. The bartender made the drink then threw the glass and drink at her, just missing her head. There was no justification for his actions. The police were called and the manager chose to not take the responsiblity for her employee's action, but instead berated my daughter for reporting the incident to the police. There was no action taken against the bartender or any assistance or apology given to my daughter by the management. My daugheter was visably upset. She and her guest left the restaurant. The police charged the bartender and in the end he returned to his place behind the bar serving drinks.
The actions and conduct of this establishment is horrible. To assault a patron and do nothing to the employee shows a lack of desire to serve the public and create a welcoming and hospitable place for patrons to partake. The management was contacted along with the owner and neither responded to discuss this matter. At this point I would never go into Helen's and can see that in time this establishment will lose patronage. I cannot and will not recommend Helen's Restaurant on Main St. to anyone.
