Do not work with this
I hired HWS to design a website for me in early May. I was very careful about explaining the details of the website to Matthew Kenison (Sales Associate). I drafted up a rough outline and block diagram of what I wanted on each page along with a detailed description of the functionality, all of which I explained to Matthew on the phone. Matthew gave me his assurance that they could do the project for around $1, 200. Being bleary of working with a company in another state I made him structure in some payment milestones. I gave them a third down with a third due in a week and a half with the final third due upon my approval of the site. I gave them several documents to use for artwork and pictures along with a link to my corporate website to use as a design guide.
The project was suppose to take 3 weeks to complete. 2 days in to the project I was contacted by an account manager (Jay Scoby) who immediately started up-selling more features and services. Some of the items he was selling made sense for me so I agreed to the items being added at a cost of $800. I asked Jay if that was in addition to what the pricing Matthew had quoted to me or if the quote would change, he said he was unaware of what Matthew had quoted be but would check into it.
Shortly after the above call Jay called again informing me of a special offer to prepay for a year of hosting for some more add-ons. The add-ons were appealing so I signed up for the year of hosting for $524. I again asked for clarification on the previous $800 and a revised quote and he said he would get it resolved.
3 weeks went by and I was not contacted by HWS, I called to find out where the project was at and was told I would be contacted by a designer. 1 week later I was contacted by the designer and in another week I finally got to see a draft web page which was nothing more than an entry page and a run-of- the-mill main page with a few graphics on it. Absolutely none of the functionality I asked for was coded into the page after 5 weeks! Sound like stall tactics?
I am not an idiot and I recognize crap when I smell it so I pulled the plug on the project and asked for a refund which I have not seen to this date. 5 plus weeks had passed and I had been given nothing but promises and the run around and the fact that they tried to force me into some cookie cutter website in terms of functionality was evidence enough that HWS was not capable of delivering what they promised.
This is a terrible company who promises the world, takes the money ($2, 100), and then fails to return my emails or phone calls so this can be resolved. I wish I would of researched this company before I agreed to anything with them. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!
If any one is interested in the email strings between myself and Heritage I will happily forward them.

Bad service
I implore you to NEVER to use Heritage Web Solutions. They start charging you hosting fees from day one. I ordered my web site in March, and it is almost July and it is still NOT finished. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER use this company. They are eager to take your money and then do nothing but sit on their ass and offer excuses... "we are adding more staff... we had to let go of that person... your site will be up and running today...
This has to be the worst company in the history of the world... do NOT give them a dime. You will regret it if you do.

didn't receive services
I assumed this company was legitimate because they had an impressive looking website. I was fooled by glitter. If you are thinking of getting a website I would strongly suggest you look locally. I learned the hard way. My advice is to stay away from Heritage Web Solutions. Don't be fooled as I was with a good looking web page. I am surprised someone hasn't brought criminal charges against them by now.

Incomplete service!
This Company has many complaints already. And mine are, of course, strikingly similar. But for those of you who have been involved with this firm, Heritage Web Solutions, how about either a suit in Small Claims Court in Provo or a class action suit against them? Really, they need to change their practices. Of course, we can allow nothing to happen, and see more small business owners treated unethically. I think eventually, their unscrupulous practices will create real trouble for them. However, if we pull together to stop this kind of business practice, maybe we will save a few other business owners and help the owners of HWS to come to their senses. If this is something you are interested in, go to Small Claims Court of Provo, UT. Can someone of this group can think of a way for all of us to communicate directly?

Horrible service!
I have been working with these people since early September of 2007 and I still, as of today, February 29, 2008, do not have a site that works the way it was promised. I have paid every last cent... (WAYYY more than the initial lead-in of $199) and yet they still seem to have reasons for not getting my site to completion. As I type this, I am on hold with them to get to the bottom of why my site is not working.
I went through 2 account managers and 2 designers in 3 months time. My site should have been done in that amount of time...at the least!!! (FYI..My first designer resigned because he didn't like how Heritage did business... that should have been my first clue!)
People, it's going on 6 months, and I'm been paying their monthly fees all along... and I still don't have what they promised. They are quick to take your money... but very slow to help you get what you paid for. The other day, after all this aggravation, someone on their sales team had the nerve to call me and ask me if I wanted to sign up for another service for another $50.00. It was to have my "right click" disabled so no one could copy my art from my site etc. I told the guy, if you can get to the bottom of where my site is at, I will consider this service. Well, because it meant more money, and he wanted to be able to "close another sale" he called me back within a couple hours and gave me an update. See, they move a little quicker when you dangle the money carrot. That was Monday, Feb. 25th, I believe. Well, the $50.00 has been deducted from my credit card... but 4 days later... my right click has still not been disabled. See, I still didn't learn my own lesson. So, I now have to get on the phone and wait in line to get more answers. The other night, I was on hold for over an hour just to get some service questions answered.
The staff people have even told me, "Well, we are very understaffed, so things might not get done as quickly as you need them to be." Nice. Their own workers are telling customers that. Also, beware, they have all sorts of people working on your site, and the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. One person promises you one thing, and then you call and check on that and the next person tells you no, that's not how it's done. I have spent numerous HOURS on their phone line waiting to get help to get this thing up and running.
They farm out a lot of their designs to "outside" sources so then they put the screws to those designers to do a quick job and get the site done. It's all about the money with Heritage. They do not care about customer service. They don't care about you as a consumer. They only care that they get so many things billed in so much time. Time is money people. That's all they care about.
I have even had emails with the "higher ups" and they promise that things will be taken care of. Then they hand things back to the workers...and things get messed up again. This is the most frustrating, aggravating process I have ever dealt with in my entire live. I would never recommend anyone to deal with them. Feel free to contact me if you want more details. I'd be happy to provide them. Just please, let me save you the trouble and just take all these complaints for what they are. They are REAL. ABSOLUTELY REAL!!!

Heritage Web "P"olution!
I hired this company in hopes of designing a fun website. Well $1,450.00 later guess what I have to show for it... -THIS COMPLAINT. Wow, I can't express enough to whomever reads this to stay very far away from this company. The "terms of agreements" they want you to accept really covers there ass. There is absolutely nothing I can do to get my money back from them. I contacted the BBB and they can do nothing. I have talked to many attorneys and they all say they "might be able to do something but it's going to cost way more than what I paid for the website and it's not guaranteed I would prevail. So I write this complaint in hopes of curbing some unexpecting consumer of making the same mistake I have. I just wish I would have found this "complaints board" sooner! It's amazing how many complaints this company has and they are STILL in business.

They are absolute thieves all these complaints are right. I contacted the FBI INTERNET SCAMS. The FBI will follow up if there is a big enough case so please contact the FBI in Utah. These people need to be exposed for stealing innocent victims money.

Terrible experience!
I have had the same problems as described by so many other people out there. Heritage Web Solutions never did complete or even begin a design on my "package deal" and then continue to charge my credit card for hosting fees after I paid to have the domain released over 4 months ago. I wish I had checked the Utah BBB and then I would have known before hand that this company has a HORRIBLE record to put it mildly.
Companies such as these simply take advantage not so savvy consumers and get away with it everyday. I learned my lesson and also lost about $800.00 to boot with absolutely nothing to show for it other than a domain name. I say, STAY AWAY unless you have money to burn.

What did you expect
As for everyone complaining about Heritage Web Solutions, I do not doubt that all your complaints are true, but what did you really expect. I'm a freelance web designer and it's unbelievable to think that your going to get a website for $199. Even when they run your bill up to $1800 dollars your still under the cost of a legit web designers fee. The graphic artist guild sites web designers rates between $50-$100/hr and thats for the basics. I know a lot of people are placing some of the blame on themselves for not doing there research and thats good. If you want a quality website you have to pay for a quality designer, so make an investment in a real company or freelancer that doesn't promise $199 flat, from your posts it sounds like it will save you the headache in the end.

Dishonesty!
I did design for Heritage Web Solutions for almost a year. At first, I really loved the job and believed in what I was doing. Over time though I came to dislike Heritage for many reasons. To start with, the hosting plans are ridiculous. HWS offers hosting packages up to $60/month, giving you 20 GB of space, with a 1 year contract. 20 GB of space is a lot, but 99% of sites will NEVER need more than 1 GB of space. Taking this into consideration, I'd like to note that GoDaddy's economy plan gives you 5 GB of space for $4/month, no contract. That's $56 less a month for everything you will need. Who would you go with?
Also, don't expect great customer service. For starters, the sales team's pay is based almost entirely on commission. They will promise things that are not true, commit to deadlines that will not be met, do whatever it takes to make sure you sign up for a 1-year contract with the company. I know this, because I dealt with the lies at my end--doing design. By the time clients got to me, 80% of the time, they were highly dissatisfied, and said I was the only person in the company that would talk to them.
Finally, I worked at HWS for almost a year, and not ONCE did I have a manager stress quality in my work--not in general, not for a specific project, not ever. To top this off, instead they took the time to push me to make sales to my clients. How many companies make their websites developers make sales for them? They even have a sales quota. If you don't squeeze enough money out of your clients each month, you're gone. Sometimes I was forced to pitch sales for things I wouldn't even buy for my own website.
In conclusion, don't go to HWS, whether you're a client or a potential employee. Many of my friends at HWS are trying to get out as soon as possible. I will say that I loved working with the people there. I miss them, but besides that I am very glad I am no longer associated with Heritage Web Solutions.
