When I went to have a routine teeth cleaning, the front desk clerk came with a proposal of services after being checked by the Dentist. Although I have a dental PPO which covers cleaning and other exam services, they wanted me to upgrade the cleaning and charge an additional $80. I called the insurance company who stated that they should give me the cleaning covered by my plan, but the dental office refused and stated I could not have a cleaning unless I take the upgraded version. This is definitely a "bait and switch" scam. Of course, I found another dentist. Also, the front desk cleark was rude and hateful and refused to let me discuss this with the dentist. I am sure many other customers just pay for the extra service whether needed or not. Despicable behavior from an unethical dental practice.
