Home Depot (Citi) Credit Card
Beware of HD credit cards issued by Citi.

I thought something was wrong initially when I would purchase something with 6 or 12 month free interest. While making ontime payments monthly it seems that they have a clever way to somehow seperate your payment into an amount that goes to your standing revolving credit line and a smaller amount that goes to your interest free purchase. But of course you can't tell by your statement with out being a forensic accountant. Them somewhere down the road you discover that you failed to pay off your interest free purchase in full within the specified period so they now asses all sorts of back interest on your interest free purchase. This happened twice before I started paying very close attention to my bill. When I would make a payment I had to go into the store and tell them to apply a specific amount to a certain part of the bill so the promotional purchase would be paid off in time and I would not incur any back interest. Nice scam, huh?

Additionally, I generally carry a very small balance on my card, $100 -$300 and pay my bill on time every month. I have had my card for over ten years. Recently I was one day late on a payment ( $10 minimum - first time) and was sent a letter telling me that my APR was being raised to 30%. Outraged I contacted India to speak to someone at Home Depot/ Citi - I have no idea which company I am speaking with
about this issue. I was told that they could waive the late fee ($39.00) but the standard policy is for my account to be reviewed in six months and if I make my payments on time they would consider lowering my APR again. I could not speak to anyone about the 30% APR screwing I was getting. I waited on the phone for
a good twenty minutes before hanging up. It is virtually impossible to speak with anyone since you end up in a phone cue that sends you nowhere. I am paying off my balance and will never use my HD card again nor will I go to Home Depot again ( I used to go every morning with neighbors and shop- no more) . I have had a much better customer experience at Lowes so that's where I'm going. Good job Home Depot!

Awful company
On 8-20-08 I ordered a 2, 000.00 dollar tractor from home depot's website I paid 204.00 for delivery, Home Depot delivered the tractor to my residence 4 days ago in a locked 200lbs metal cage/crate that can not be opened by the average consumer, special tools are required to set the tractor free from its prison, I called Home-Depot, The Shipping Company and they refuse to come over to my residence and set the tractor free, they actually asked me to go out and buy a drill a wrench and a rubber mallet so i can set my tractor free, Home-Depot is the worst I will never purchase anything from them as long as I live and i will tell my story to as many people as I possibly can.

Be aware
I am writing in regards to HomeDepot and there Credit Card Service. We had purchased Kitchen Cabinets and Appliance. Once we received the Cabinets they were damaged, not stained and different colors, every time they replace them there is something wrong. Now they will not take them back. We had spoke to Customer care 1 and 2 and it is getting worst, They took the charges off our account cause we had dispute it and now put back on. This is an on going problem. No one from Home Depot nor the credit Card Company will resolve this. Any other Credit Card Company would protect the customer if they have damage goods, this has been going on since November 2007. We also had Consumer Affairs involved and they were at a lost but agreed they are damaged and not acceptable. Now we have to pay for an attorney to resolve this. I wish you could put this on TV to make any one that buys from HomeDepot and gets a credit card to be aware that if you products are damage you are stuck with them and have to pay for them no matter what.

Awful experience
I just wanted to share my recent experience with Home Depot that I feel is a growing trend with them. Consistent under-estimations regarding work their ourside contractors can do.

We recently spent about 3 hours at our local Home Depot picking out a new door for the side of our house. The reason it took so long was because they had accidentally deleted our original quote from the system.

Anyway, that was just the beginning of our problems. We picked out a door that cost $126. Standard installation of the door was $285. We thought this was high, but just in case it takes a few extra hours labor, we can see why they might mark the price up.

So we scheduled an appointment for a measurement. We had already measured our door and brought the dimensions in with us. The door measured out to be a 32x80 inch door. Well the contractor who came out to measure spent about 5 minutes here said he would submit the details to HD and we'd be contacted regarding the scheduling of the installation. Well HD calls us the next day... tells us the contractor said we needed a bigger door, and that door would have to be cut down to fit our house. This new door would cost us almost $500. And he also said there would be additional labor to make it fit, so the total cost of getting our door installed was now $900!

I am currently having a different company come out and do the installation. If the new company measures and installs the original door we ordered (32x80), you can bet HD will be hearing from our lawyers. We will be seeking our $30 measurement fee back, as well as time wasted at their store and on the phone with them.

Cheating
In February of 2008, I signed a contract with Home Depot At Home Services to put siding on my house and 2 new windows. When the salesman came to my house for measurements, I explained to him that I had $7000.00 in Home Depot cards and planned to pay for the job that way. I wish he told me the truth-that could not be done. Instead he said he would take care of it and give me a 10% discount on top of it. For months after the job I tried to pay my bill and made multiple visits with my box of cards to the store but the transaction could never be done. It was vert complicated and he said he needed only certain people there to do it. I then started getting credit card bills with the entire job billed on my card, which he assured me he would not do. After 6 months, I started getting interest on the card. Finally in July the salesman met me at the store and I paid for the job in gift cards. He said he would take care of the credit card bill. Over a year later, I was sent to a collections agency and it still was not taken care of. I was denied the preferred car insurance ratwe because of my now bad credit history. To this date, no one will write a letter to my car insurance admitting their mistake. I call each day and get shuffled around and put on hold and hung up on. When I do reach someone they either promise to take care of it or tell me they can't help. In either case, no one ever does anything. I am still waiting for my 10% discount which I was told I would have to meet the salesman at the store to give me the discount which has now changed from 10% of $7000.00 to $200.00. Now that the job is finished and paid for, he does not return any more of my calls.

Awful quality products
Early October 2008 after a City permit was issued. When the shed was initially installed, I was told by a member of the crew from Ted's Sheds, that anchors were not needed as the shed was large enough to support itself. I was not satisfied with that so I called the company the next business day and someone came back 2 weeks later and placed 4 anchors to support the shed. The City inspector came out for a final inspection on October 22 and did not pass the installation stating improper anchoring as his reason. Home Depot and Ted's Sheds were made aware of this fact. No one has made any efforts to remedy this matter regarding the shed that did not pass city inspection and to date, nothing has been done about it. The shed is still on its side since October 24, 2007 when it was flipped over during Hurricane Wilma. Ted's Sheds and Home Depot initially thought that the shed passed inspection; however, the City of Miami Gardens has made it quite clear to them that the shed did not pass inspection due to improper installation. I am still waiting for this situation to be remedied with a 10 x 12 ft shed lying face down in my back yard and another hurricane season less than 1 week away.

bad workmanship
In Aug of 09 we ordered special order kitchen countertops for our home. It took 1 1/2 more weeks than they originally told us, however if you look at your work order they put in the first of the month to the last day of the month for them to get your merchandise to you. That wasnt REALLY the problem. When they delivered it I thought it wasnt cut right, it turned out to be fine. The problem was when I got home from work that same night, the laminate was literally FALLING of the BRAND NEW countertops!!! Now it has been resolved with very little caring for what happened. Ok so maybe it was only $700 to them and not a big fricking deal, but to me, being in the retail business myself, where is the apology and some kind of call from somebody? The one person I talked to said just so you know, this has never happened before, ok yea right!!! Gee that makes me feel sooooo much better! So, I will never spend any more money there! Apparently, I didnt spend enough for any one there to give a crap!!

No customer service
Purchased a gazebo at Home Depot for $400. Followed assembly instructions exactly, and placed it on our deck. Enjoyed it for three weeks until one day when it rained, the top filled with water (which it hadn't done in 3 previous rains) and the entire thing crashed down, breaking the metal framework. Oddly enough, it had a 2nd 'roof' section on it to avoid water collection, and the canvas fabric was pulled very tightly on the framework, as per instructions, so this should not have happened. Luckily nobody was sitting under it when it collapsed, and I'm surprised the sharp framing ends didn't crash through the French doors. Since it was shielded on 2 sides by the house (on our deck) I cannot believe it was a result of high winds or anything of that nature.

Called store. Manager on vacation, assistant manager refused to look at it or discuss it. 'Act of God' he said, though he admitted his similar gazebo was still standing. Apparently no Acts of God in his neighborhood.

Took it to the store in the car. Assistant manager refused to look at it after ignoring us for 20 minutes while he paced at the front of the store. Said we were 'threatening' him (crazy, my husband is a 140 lb ethics professor, not a very scary guy). Said nobody would help us and not to bother the regional manager.

Wrote to the Customer Service Dept and even Investor Relations hoping SOMEONE would respond, but received only the usual cursory templated 'thanks for emailing us' responses.

Shame on them. $400 out for us, and we'll never buy from Home Depot again! They should stand behind their products.

misleading use of product
after consulting to the home depot staffs' opinion about how to clean the sticking paper on the glass door, and home depot staffs suggested us to use the acetone, we bought a can of acetone in the home depot----located at Markham road and Castlemore aveniue in the markham city of Ontario, and we used to clean the sticking paper on the glass door, but a big accident result is our door glass all cracked terribly, and we don't dare to move anything because it is dangerous to fall down all the door glass. we reported to the home depot, and asked them to send staffs co come to investigate.that is a typical service problem.
we need your concern and help.
thanks.

Worst company on earth
We have purchased kitchen cabinets from Homedepot in Nov. 2007, till present they are refusing to take back nor replace them. We have been at a lost till present. We also opened an credit card thru homedepot and while trying to dispute it the credit card company said to me they are working for Homedepot. I feel the consumer should be aware of this before opening up a credit card from HomeDepot. We have hired an attorney to write a letter and still at still. I would love to air this. We have spent thousands of dollars to eat with our four children. Someone haves to put a stop to this and it would be a dream come true if this could be on TV. please help. I am disabled and have a ill husband. But most of all to go to the court the lawyer wants over 6, 000 as a deposit, that we can not do at this time.
