Selling Recalled Siemens Circuit Breakers
First I want to say I really like Siemens products and will continue to use them even though they had a recall and this review is about the recall and Home Depot Negligence. I purchased two Siemens Q120 (20A single pole) circuit breakers on 18 Dec 2010 and found out Sunday night that Siemens had a recall on a large number of circuit breakers manufactured during June-July 2010. Recall was issued 23 SEP 2010 however, Home Depot continued selling the recalled Siemens circuit breakers up to at least 20 Dec 2010 which is the day I returned the two breakers I purchased on the 18th Dec 2010. I told them they were recalled and was only told they didn’t show that however I did leave the recall paperwork with the return desk and asked them to give to the store manager. Beyond that I can’t say what happened at store level but when I sent an email to Home Depot Corp HQ asking why they were continue to sell recalled products and the fact I have lost trust in Home Depot their only response was very lame. Below is the communiqué between the complaint and the reply with the complaint first followed by the reply:

(Complaint)
Hello,
I purchased two Siemens 20A circuit breakers model Q120 over the weekend and had to take them back to swap out today (Monday 20 Dec 2010) due to the fact the ones I purchased are the ones being recalled by Siemens since 23 Sep 2010. When I went back to the store, of which I live 25 miles away, I looked and found that there were a large number of affected Siemens breakers on the store's shelf. When I told the employee about it he said he didn't know about it and used his pocket computer to scan one but he said it didn't show as being recalled. I was able to find two replacement breakers that were not part of the recall and took them to the service desk to make an even swap. I gave the employee a copy of the recall and asked her to make sure the store manager got it however, I don’t know if that will happen or not. My concern is the fact that Siemens issued the recalled on 23 Sep 2010 on a large number of breaker models with date codes of 0610 and 0710 (June-July 2010) and your store are still selling them as of 20 Dec 2010 and the recall is based on a risk of fire hazard. That to me is unacceptable as most home owners and small business owners that replace their own breakers as well as most electrical contractors would not even be aware of the recall and would install these devices in buildings. Why would Home Depot continue to sell recalled products? Not only did Home Depot sell me defective product on a recall list, http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml10/10354.html and http://www.sea.siemens.com/us/Products/Residential-Electrical/Product/Circuit-Breakers/Pages/plugin_recall.aspx I had to waste more of my time and fuel to drive back to Home Depot only to swap out two breakers that were not part of the recall and the two issues put together makes me an unhappy customer. I’m glad I was able to get replacement product (Safe) but that does not solve the problem as to why Home Depot is still selling recalled products. This will make me question everything I buy from Home Depot in the future that is electrical or gas powered.
Please let me know why this happened so that I can make an informed decision as to if I can trust Home Depot and their products they sell to be safe. Yes this is a manufacture problem however, Home Depot failed to removed the recalled product from their shelf therefore my trust in Home Depot has been lost.

Not picking up old appliance as promised
When I ordered online there was not a check-off box that they would pick up the old appliance. I called Home Dep0t Customer service and they assured me they would pick up the old appliance. When the delivery day came, they delivered the new appliance and said they were not supposed to pick up the old one. After hours of phone calls with Home Depot - they still have not made it right. I did have a phone conversation with the store manager and he said they would pick it up, but then he was trumped by corporate who called me and said that they would not pick it up. I will never, ever ever order online from Home Depot again!!!

racial profiling and discrimination while shopping at Home Depot
December 15, 2010
Hello everyone,

It’s me Mike Lewis again and a year ago I came to you telling you to not shop at Loews Home Improvement because they discriminate against minorities, I told you to support your local mom and pop shops and Home Depot. Sadly to say, that on November 21, 2010 I was at the Home Depot in Bowie MD making a purchase at the self check out that for some reason was not working, so the cashier next to the self check out said she would take me. My purchase was $54 and after the cashier rang me up she asked me if it was cash or credit and I said credit. The cashier then said she needed to see my ID and I asked why? She said the store policy was that any credit card purchases required ID because she said they have had a lot of people using credit cards that were not authorized and she said it came from the store manager that told her to do this check. Once again, I told her that if it’s a policy it needs to be written down and displayed like it is in the liquor stores. I refused to show my ID but she saw something in my wallet with my name on it and let the transaction go through. She assured me that she would talk to her store manager and let the manager know that it needs to be a written policy for all to see.
When I called the store the next day and talked to the store manager and the District manager, I was told it was NOT a policy to check ID for credit card purchases unless the credit card is not signed. After a weeks of dealing with this issue, I was told by the Home depot district manager and corporate headquarters that the reason I was questioned for an ID was because I was purchasing paint. However this excuse that Home Depot is trying to tell me was NOT what I was told by the cashier at the time I was harassed and humiliated for my ID because she thought I might be a thief, NOT because I was buying paint!
I let Home Depot know that I was harassed, humiliated and discriminated not because I was buying paint, but because I was a black male. What I wanted from Home Depot was a written apology and to discuss this matter with Frank Blake the CEO of Home Depot to let him know that his employees need to be trained to NOT pick and choose who they will discriminate against in his stores. When I sent all this information to Frank’s office, they had only African American employees to call me and try to make excuses for what happened and I was told that Frank would never talk to me concerning this matter, even though it was a matter of discrimination he was too important and busy to concern himself with this matter.
What I want you to do is to contact Frank and let him know that it is 2010 and we will NOT put up with this type of treatment in his or anyone else’s store. Discrimination must be wiped out and Home Depot and Frank Blake the CEO of Home Depot needs to be held accountable because our African American money is as green as anyone else’s. I am going to put this incident on boycott.com, consumerist.com and pissedoffconsumer.com to let others know about the racial profiling and discrimination while shopping at Home Depot.
Here is Frank Blake the CEO of Home Depots telephone number 770-433-8211 ext 15659 and
you can also email [email protected] to let him know we will not stand for discrimination of any form.

Sincerely,
Mike Lewis

Cabinet Order
Ordered Kraftmaid cabinets through Home Depot. They sold me a style where the drawer fronts and door fronts do not in fact match. They never informed me of this fact and refuse to exchange either item. Expensive purchase, terrible customer service. The Kraftmaid cabinets are actually very good quality, but I would definitely order them somewhere else. Anywhere else.

Web SIte reliability for reviews on products
Ordered a window from Home Depot. The window was manufactured by an Anderson Company called American Craftsman. I wrote the Anderson Company a letter detailing the issues and never received a response. The windows were shipped directly from the manufacturers warehouse.

Received window and it was the wrong model. Had to package and send back.

Received another window and it was the wrong size. Had to package and send back.

Received another window and again the wrong size. Had to package and send back. It appears they could have an inventory issue or at least a labeling issue.

I am still waiting for the credits to go thru after weeks since the last window was delivered.

I wrote a comment on the window product on home depot.com and for some reason Home Depot did not include the comment in the reviews section for the window. I waited well over over a week and the comment still isn't in the reviews and I received confirmation the comment was sent to HD right after I wrote it.

As of this writing Anderson Company still hasn't responded in any way. When I wrote their headquarters I included all of my receipts and shipping information including details on all the wrong windows. If I do receive a comment or response I will update this web site.

Unethical sales practices
The Home Depot uses unethical sales practices. Throughout the 'black friday' sales event, there were no appliance packages available. Nor on Monday. Tuesday, every item was available at the higher prices.

I was a dedicated Home Depot shopper until now.

Rude Employees
A gentleman named Kevin that worked in appliances answered the phone. In getting the details of what I was calling about, he acted so put out and irritated that I couldn't feed him word for word exactly what he needed to know. I knew it was entered on the computer, so when I asked if he was using a computer, he REALLY acted ticked. I told him it was the second time I had encountered a rude person at that store. He acted incredulous. Him? Rude? Well, he certainly hated that. But it was a fact. I am an employer. I would not want any of my people talking to our clients or customers that way. The manager is a really nice man. Too bad he can't work with worthy employees.

Washer & Dryer Delivery
Do not ever buy from Home Depot! We have been a week with no washer and dryer and still no delivery date in the future. On November 20th we placed a telephone order with Home Depot major appliances for a washer and dryer. At that time we were given a delivery dates of 11/26/10. On 11/24/10 a confirmation automated call was received at 5:15 pm indicating delivery was scheduled on 11/26/10 between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm. On 11/26/10 at 8:15 am a call was received from the delivery company stating they had not received the washer and dryer, the earliest delivery date would be 11/29/10. It is now 11/29/10 and we have not received any telephone calls regarding if the washer and dryer is going to be delivered. Once we had received the original delivery confirmation, we disconnected the washer and dryer and donated them... it has now been 5 days with no appliances. Numerous calls to Home Depot have resulted in nothing, so far they have passed the buck to LG and to the delivery company. I realize I am a small fish but the lack of customer service is unacceptable.

Not for veterans anymore
I've been getting a 10% veteran discount at Home Depot and Lowe's. Now Home Depot will only give the discount to active duty, retirees and disabled. No more discount to those of us who just did our time and got out.

They will NOT honor our Department of Veteran's Affairs card which proves our service. There is a posting of this notice by the check out lanes. So, I told them to just put the stuff in my cart back on the shelves, and I walked out.

Lowe's is still giving the discount and I was told: "If you served us, you deserve our discount." Guess where I'll be shopping?
