Being a small business I save where I can, so I bought an "open box" HP psc 7280 printer from Circuit City as they were clearing out their inventory. The printer was missing several of the "host" print cartridges. I didn't know the difference between "host" cartridges and "print" cartridges, so I went and spent another forty bucks for new print cartridges as well. There was no information with the printer that suggested otherwise. Needless to say I could not initialize the printer. Once I understood the problem I emailed tech support and explained the problem. My receipt warranteed the printer as it was a "new" printer under factory warranty. The technician told me what was needed from me and there was a "session ID" reference number. They would send me a "service ticket" number and would send me the missing cartridges. I got the service ticket number and emailed my information. I heard no more.I called again and had to go through the whole mess with another rep. I sent the information again. To make a long story short, I emailed my information (receipts, machine info, etc) six times and faxed it twice. They "never got it." I also copied myself at a different email address and I got the information. I still don't have the "host cartridges" and HP does not tell you how to get them. HP is the only company that uses that foolishness and they don't tell you that you need to buy the "real" cartridges anyway since the host printers are useless for printing. I have had to buy another printer (not HP) . I am not surprised at the sizable number of complaints I see about HP's customer service.
