Hughes Net service
For those who have contacted me for info on a class action against Hughes NET, there is one

GOOGLE PBM Attorney Hughes NET. (PBM) is the shortened name of the firm Pogust Braslow & Millrood in PA).

It was just filed a few months ago. Contact them and sign up giving them your story as I did. Good luck. If you are in rural America you have to have satellite service and once you sign up and buy the equipment you are pretty stuck. Even if you cancel there are fees and lost investment $$. I documented my phone calls with several sales people and you know what, they talk about how FAST you can download and then when pushed admit that upload isn't that fast AND that there is a daily download limit. But they say that the limit is like downloading 20 movies...HA HA HA ... yeah right. Do a google search for something and click on the wrong site and bump you are out if that site is loaded with graphics or animated sales ads.

Online gaming ruined
Not just the gaming but surfing the internet in general even when this FAP isn't on is very slow!
Every time I try to play an online game the ping (latency) is always in the thousands--never been lower than 1000. Such as Halo for PC when I try to shoot somebody I warp over a couple feet and I always miss the enemy and then a couple seconds later I get killed and I don't even know what or were from. DO NOT BUY THIS INTERNET CONNECTION FOR ANYTHING. The maximum I can download at is 121kb/sec and the best I've ever uploaded at is 8kb/sec. I usually need to download something over 375mb but no after Hughes showed up they made this Fair Access Policy. If you download over the limit (375mb) you are slowed down to were it takes 6 (at the fastest) minutes to load msn.com. If you own a Hughes system I really feel sorry for you because I know how it feels. A total waste of $80 a month.

over sold there services
Well for starters, there is not much bandwith there to begine with...
Hughes net has way over sold there services and are charging double what DSL and cable providers are charging, It's a Total Rip Off!
I'm only certain they can speed up or slow you down as they will surly shut you down for 24 hrs if you exceed there "FAIR ACCESS POLICY" what a RIP OFF!
Is it not False Addvertisment? "UNLIMITED ACCESS" and then turn around and through a "ACCESS POLICY" in there contract?
That is certainly NOT what I signed up for...
There should be a lawsuit! I'm only certain there will be,
It's just a matter of time before they crash anyway.

2-Year Contract??
I'm trying to cancel my Hughesnet service because we are moving to an area that offers broadband (THANK GOD!). Hughesnet sucks... it's just sucks.. Slower than dial-up at times. When I tried to cancel today, the barely English-speaking gentleman on the line said I signed up for a 2-year contract term commitment. I'm pretty sure this was never discussed or brought to my attention AS my rental lease was for one-year FIRM. I don't believe I missed the fine print as the deal was made over the phone. I'm also told that I have to pay the shipping cost to return the dish. I told him I understand I bought the dish. The refund is $200. The early term fee to break the contract is $400. Anyone else have this issue?

Early termination fee...$400.00
I am having to move to a residence that says I can't attach HughesNet equipment to their home or put a pole in the ground on their property, so, I called HughesNet today and they told me I have to pay the $400.00 fee anyway for canceling early...
I told them I could get them a letter from the owners, but they said it would not make any difference...
He actually told me I should move somewhere that allowed HughesNet!!!
I called my credit card company and they said the only option, if I can't resolve the issue with them, is to get a "new" credit card number...
However, if I don't pay them, my credit rating will be affected...
I am "constantly" having trouble with HughesNet ...It's so slow and cuts out all the time...It is a lousy service and VERY expensive for what you get!!!
Plus, I initially had to pay $125.00 up front to have a pole installed in the yard of where I presently live...
This company was my "ONLY" option for internet at the time as I live in the country...
I would love any advise on what to do... Thanks, Summer

Double charged for installation w/in 90 days of initial service
HughesNet dispatched THEIR contracted technician within 90 days of initial installation (by another of THEIR contractors) because I couldn't receive service. The dispatched service technician advised that the original pole & dish was improperly installed & needed to be moved to restore service. I paid the HughesNet technician who installed my service originally $125. The second technician sent by Hughsnet required payment of $125 to reinstall the pole & dish & HughsNet refuses to credit my account or resolve the matter with THEIR contractor who originally installed my service. I have filed a complaint with the FCC. Any other suggestions for recourse?

Horrible all around service
This is ABSOLUTELY the biggest scam for internet service ever. For the price of good internet service, i.e. ATT, Comcast, etc you receive the LOWEST tier of service from HughesNet. The pages load horribly slowly. I let my computer download a YouTube clip that was 1minute and 32 seconds long and with HughesNet it took 47 hours before I finally gave up. Keep in mind the video never did fully load. When the "technician" came to my house to install my huge eyesore of a dish in my yard he didn't bury the cable from the dish to the house. Due to his laziness the landscapers ran over the cable which shorted out the dish leaving me without service for 27 days! When I called to resolve the issue I chose the automated option that I needed service to the dish. I was placed on hold for nearly half an hour with no response when I decided I would hang up and call back. When I called back I chose the option to start new service. Magically, they picked up after less than a minute of hold time when it came to what they thought would be some poor new suckers money going in their pockets. The person who "helped" me over the phone barely spoke English and was VERY RUDE. They did not understand my problem whatsoever.
When it came time for me to move to my new house it was up to me to take down the dish and move it myself. On top of this the man they sent to my house to install the dish was rude, dirty and incompetent. He proceeded to wear his filthy work boots all over the brand new carpet of my brand new home. To add insult to injury he took 5 days to finally install the dish that I had transported halfway across Michigan. He also installed the eyesore right in front of a lakefront window on my property. Although the point of this service was to accommodate my laptop computer the man who serviced the dish did not set up the wireless router that is part of the package I am paying so much for. It is my understanding an I.T. person is to set up your internet, not just stick a chunk of metal in your yard and leave. This service is a JOKE! DO NOT EVER GET HUGHESNET SERVICE! It is a rip-off and a scam!
I have attached photos of the quality installation job that left the dish on the ground after a few summer breezes over night and how the wires were pulled tight to the point of breaking due to faulty installation. I also have a photo of the dish right in front of my window overlooking my backyard, blocking the view of the lake.

internet speed much slower than promised
Beware!!! hughesnet speed is getting slower as the customers increase, that is my experience after 18 months of service, when my system developed problems, the subcontractor tried very HARD to sell me a new contract and new system. When I wanted to cancel I was charged the remaining cost of service. This is not a customer friendly business. Again, do not get taken by Hughesnet.

horrible service
I got hughesnet for the first time in january of o9. I paid 600 dollars over the phone and 125 in cash to the guy that installed the dish. I pay soo much money for garbage service they are disrespectful, ignorant, and greedy cause they know ppl like us who have nothing else available have no choice. And by the time we pay as much as they charge us we can't afford to just give up and cancel. I thought paying as much as I did I would have the best service I would ever ask for. BIG MISTAKE>>> I will do nothing but tell EVERYONE I KNOW as long as I am able to talk how horrible this company is! The india tech support that has been mentioned is the most annoying because I don't know about you, but the only "manager" I've ever been able to talk to is "philip". How annoying is that when you sign up your talking to sally in michigan, and then u have a problem you talk to philip in india... I absolutely despise this company and I don't care how much money I've waisted on it, the DAY i am able to get another internet service I cannot wait to call up PHILIP and cancel this total waist of my hard earned money!... IF you haven't had the joy of dealing with this so called company, please spare urself and ur family the burden. I wish someone wouldve warned me.
