Musical Instruments, Music Lessons, Kids Music
A staple of the Bluegrass region of Central Kentucky since 1960, Hurst Music offers high quality band and orchestra instruments from respected manufacturers such as Yamaha, Gemeinhardt, Eastman, Conn-Selmer, Getzen, and Ludwig. Hurst Music’s founder, George P. Hurst performed in the Army Band while stationed at Fort Knox during World War II. After the war, he moved down from his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA to work at Shackleton’s Music in Lexington, KY where he was in charge of the band & orchestra department. In 1960, Hurst sold his home to finance his own new store where in he provided quality products and excellent service. The business quickly grew and by the end of the decade had moved to a new locations on 660 E. Main St. During the mid 1980’s, Hurst Music was purchased by Mel Owen Music, a music retailer in Louisville. Later, Dan Eberlein, a retired band director from Bourbon County High School, purchased Hurst Music. By providing expert advice, and personal care for his customers, Hurst Music became one of the premier school service dealers in Central Kentucky. In order to meet this increased demand, Hurst Music relocated to its present day location of 101 N. Mount Tabor Rd. We would like to invite you and your family to come to our store so we can help you enjoy the many benefits that music has to offer.
