Deceptive marketing Practices
After paying up front for Professional Publishing services from IUniverse, I was assigned an assistant. After 2 months of no returned emails or phone calls, I was transferred to another specialist. I was informed that the first specialist was no longer with the company. I was assigned an editor, as per my contract with them. The editor reviewed the book, made a few changes and suggested some more, which were immediately completed and the clean manuscript was sent to them for printing. I was then pursued for another $3, 000 in "line edit" services, with promises of being picked up by them as a "real author." I listened for a couple of weeks and decided to send a print-ready pdf to expedite publishing. I also submitted complete cover art, marketing information, and have 2, 000 orders standing by for the book to come out in print. This is my 4th book, and I am already a 5-time Amazon best selling author. All contact from IUniverse ceased. I have not received an email or a phone call in weeks, despie almot daily atempts to find out the status of my paid-for project. No galley copy has arrived. No printing date has been set. I missed two conferences with the new book, as it is now 2 months behind schedule. I will be requesting a refund on Monday and start all over again with yet another POD publisher. Does anyone know a reputable publisher out there?
