Scam
Don't use this company's telephone check service it's nothing but a scam. I did 3 telephone number inquiries at $4.95 each and got 3 one word returns back that was suppose to be subscriber information. By their rules you don't pay unless they find something and I guess making up a word and sending it to the customer "is something". There is no similarity between what is shown as a sample report and the return that you get. When I asked about the poor service delivered I got a "kiss off" form letter. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

Rip off
Used their services to trace a call. When I got the bill from my credit card, they had conveniently added another 19.95 charge in addition to what I had been billed for trace. "Slavia" at Intelius said she could credit me $5.00 since a billing cycle had passed since charge. Asked if I remembered one of the website pages with a picture of something I didn't recall at all.She indicated that is where I signed up for this monthly charge.Have the invoice for the trace charge, but never bought so don't have invoice for whatever they are billing for now.I am disputing with Mastercard.Maybe they can get somewhere.

Fraud
I spent $25.00 in hopes of getting data I could use for a court case. What I discovered was the information provided was 25 years old and some cases inaccurate. I know this because I looked up my own information and it was 25 years old and my mother was listed with 3 addresses that she had never lived at. My information is public record, I own my home and my name, address and home phone are listed in the white pages and yet they did not have this information.
When I called customer service and spoke to Tim and Danelle I was told that their information was correct and I could not get a refund. Tim did offer to cancel my membership that I had already paid for.
Beware of any information you get from Intelius.

Fraud
I used the Intelius service to look up one persons location back in February 2010 & was charged $49.95 plus a $19.95
charge to use this service. Since then I've been charged a monthly fee of $19.95, which I did not authorize & keep trying to cancel, but when I write to the customer service department to cancel my account, they never cancel it! When I call them on the phone, they never answer my call. I have been on hold for 45 minutes, 60 minutes, etc. & just give up. I wish I would have known about this site before I used their services! Now I see the same complaints about them, over & over! What can I do to stop them from making fraudulant charges on my charge card and to get them to credit my account ($79.80 total unauthorized charges to date)? Thank you for your assistance!
Sincerely,
Pamela K. Larsen

Charged fees not agreed to
I performed a 3.00 search for an old friend's phone number and address on the Intelius website. I got an outdated address and phone number (around 10 years old), never finding an updated address and phone number through an Intelius search. The agreement stated that my account would be charged 3.00. About one month later my account was charged 19.95 by Intelius. When I called them, they told me that I had agreed to pay for a membership with them. Nothing was mentioned before, after, or during the search about a membership or a charge of 19.95. I told them that I wanted the charge removed, that I did not want a membership with a service I would never use again. I did not agree to it in the first place. Initially, the representative told me that they would simply cancel the account, but would not refund the 19.95. I asked to speak with a manager and the tone changed. The representative then told me that she would talk to her manager herself and see if the money could be refunded. Eventually, the representative came back on the line and told me that all charges would be refunded. I am waiting for the refund to show up on my account.
Beware! Don't trust Intelius agreements. There are most definitely hidden charges. Do not give them your credit card number; who knows how much they will deduct from your account in the end.

Added identity protect to my purchase
I paid 14.99 for a people search that rendered information I could have gotten from the white pages. Eight months later I discovered that Intelius had signed me up for an i.d theft protection and had been taking 19.99 out of my account monthly.
I promptly called customer service and asked them to refund me. They refused. I asked them to sgemail or mail me the contract. They said it is not policy to do this. I asked them to cancel this immediately and wanted confirmation again they refused. I called my bank and had to cancel my debit card so they could no longer charge me.
After to ranting and raving the customer service robot had enough nerve to tell me if I want to rejoin they'd give me 10% off. Filing an complaint with BBB.
