My husband and I have moved more than twelve times all around the world from Australia to America and by far the worst movers company ever has been INTERNIC / INTRAGLOBE Int. movers company (they are the same company). We moved from Montreal to Jamaica in 2015 paying 12.215 CAD included the full coverage insurance, door to door, full packing service, unpacking and removal of debris at my residence in Jamaica, port charges and customs formalities.
INTERNIC / INTRAGLOBE promised us that the movers would arrive at our place on 17th July between 9 to 11 am. We insisted because the same day we were leaving Montreal for good. By 11 am no-one had shown up and we called INTRAGLOBE they said that the movers would arrive in 5 minutes with a team of 8 to ensure the move would be done on time. After several phone calls back and forth a team of 3 arrived at around 1:10 pm and they started to pack at 2pm. Considering this long delay and the fact that we were leaving the country that evening, we took the initiative to start packing. At around 3 pm 2 additional staff arrived.
We would like to point out a number of issues regarding the behaviour of the moving staff. From the beginning we realized that they were not professional packers. To our surprise, the staff used our microwave oven to prepare their meals and helped themselves to our cutlery, without asking. A few minutes later, as we continued to help with the packing, we realized that only one of the staff was in the apartment besides us. When we asked where the other staff was, he said they were having their lunch break, and mentioned they had the right to have a proper lunch and a one-hour break. Also, the movers were not careful in the way they packed some of the items. For example, they were hitting with the trolley the wooden frame of an antique chest. We discussed about the way they treated the furniture and it was only when they saw that we were writing on the inventory list that “Many items were leaving the house unpacked” that they started to pack a few of the things that were left to pack: antique chests, carpet, lamp. However, many items left the house unpacked such as the bed frames, suitcases, diving equipment, golf bag, iron board and barbeque.
The wall of the corridor was left with red marks from the rubbing of the mover’s shirts against it. When we complained, they said: you can clean it.
We spoke and wrote an email to Mr Monier complaining about the move. However, he never answered.
A couple of days after the move, the building’s manager called us to advise that the Emergency Exit signal of the building’s corridor was broken by the movers. The replacement cost was 400 CAD and INTRAGLOBE paid 200 CAD and we paid the other 200 CAD.
When the container arrived in Jamaica the representative company (Maritime Solutions) asked us to pay a number of services, including: Bill of Sight, Storage, Container. Obviously, we were surprised as the contract included door-to-door services. In particular, Maritime Solutions said that the service they had been contracted did not include bringing the goods into the house and less umpacking.
We would like to point out that when the container was opened we (and Maritime Solutions) noticed that the stuff we had been promised would be packed in Montreal, was not packed, including the beds. Also, many boxes were broken.
We were asked to sign the condition of the goods. We were going to write that many boxes were broken but the representative said that we should unpack the items and then write about any problems and that he would inform INTRAGLOBE about the condition of the boxes.
After opening more than 100 boxes, many of them which arrived broken, we sent the claim list to INTRAGLOBE, with pictures, showing the condition of the items. E.g. - Danish ceramic tray, they placed in at the bottom of a big box containing the vacuum cleaner, tool box. - Drawings and women’s designer hats were placed in a box together with electronics items and below a heavy leather rug. - Creased suits and trousers, there were packed with heavy decorate objets. - Books greasy, because they packed with candles. - Sewing machine is not working any more, etc.
We spent long time without any news from them. We called INTRAGLOBE many times to resolve this situation and many excuses came up. After several emails, phone calls back and forth Mr Monier offered us 400 CAD saying that otherwise he’s not going to make money from the insurance company. BTW, we never received that money.
I contacted Justice de Québec. They read and saw the pictures and recommended me to follow the process. I sent two Formal Notice to Mr. Monier but he never answered, as usual.
They know perfectly the process and before judgment we need a representative in Montreal to continue with the process. We had a witness, a friend who came home to say goodbye. She could see the disaster work from unprofessional movers but she moved to Europe too. Of course!, using another moving company.
INTERNIC / INTRAGLOBE and the winner, Mr. Monier, do not know about the moral and ethical principles!!! AVOID THESE COMPANIES AND IF YOU HEAR THE NAME “JACQUES MONIER” RUN AWAY.
