Targetting little children
How many parents allow their little children to play games on their iPhone. We downloaded a couple of free apps from iTune to keep my 6 year old occupied in the car. Although free, these apps entices the gamer to make in-app purchases of points/bucks/coins that allow the gamer to upgrade the game character or obtain special privileges. Of course my 6 year old wanted the upgrades so he would push the buy button in attempt to acquire them. Here's the funny thing, my 6 year old was able to make the purchases although he does not know my password to iTune. I don't know how he did it but he was able to run through 3 consecutive transactions. Here's the shocker...the purchases amounted to $360! The apps I'm complaining about are the Mega Jump and Squishy Fishy. These are clearly geared towards little children and displayed in iTune for free downloads but has buy options to make purchase of privilege points that amount to $100 per transaction!?! It's predatory! In any event, we complained to iTune but no response. We also complained to the developer but no response. This is how the illustrious Fortune 500 company like Apple is turning profit.
