For Christmas my Husband John Gaskins bought me a gold heart braclet from this jeweler and paid him $200.00 cash-which means he didnt record it on his books-he also bought on the same purchase a silver charm-total spent was $250.00 cash. Once I recieved the braclet as the gift for Christmas-it needed to be extended a link. We of course took it back to Jewels & Diamonds for thats where it was purchased and it aslo had an error from when he made it-the last link was on backwards. We advised the jeweler that, I needed a link added, that it was a little small and that the last link was on backwards & needed corrected. He took the braclet & added a spring link and a solid link & confirmed that the size fit & asked did we want it saudered-he had to correct the last link & we said sure being he was going to have to correct & sauder the last link back on. He said "You know there is going to be a charge for this" we then asked him "What would be the fee for the saudering of the link added" he said "A Small Fee" we again asked him "Whats A Small Fee" he said "Dont Worry-Just A Small Fee" so thinking the most he would charge would be $5 to $10-which after it was all said & done-I asked another jeweler in the area what they would have charged & they said NOTHING-that it should have been a curtisy being cash of $200.00 was paid for the braclet. It took the jeweler over a week to make the corrections & do the saudering. We went this past Monday to pick it up-my hubsband went in to get the braclet. He came out in disgust that the jeweler forced him to pay $53 on our credit card in order to get the braclet back or else he was keeping it & the $200.00 that was paid for it-he didnt give my husband a reciept for the inital purchase. I then went back into the jewelers & confronted him-I told him I wanted to return the braclet & get all my money back, he said "NO MAME-I AM NOT GOING TO REFUND YOU ANYTHING"! I proceeded to tell him how, he was robbing us & how he swendled my husband out of $53.00 and he tried to tell me he made 3 sauders & did extensive work on the braclet & how he used real gold & how much gold was going for-I told him how he actually ONLY did one sauder on the braclet of my request-the other was a spring ring which requires NO SAUDER & the correction sauder was his own error in the first place. I proceeded to tell him, how I just had a wide gold band estimated-(the one I was going to have him repair, that he couldnt give me a price on) had it estimated at 2 different jewelers to size it up 2 sizes & was ONLY going to cost me $50. He knew he was ripping me off, so at that point of the confrontation he opened his cash draw & gave me $25.00 cash back & kept my reciept for the $53.00 that was charged to my credit card. I am still dissatisfied with the work he done-the sauder is the worst Ive ever seen & that he should have to refund the remaining balance of $28 he charged on the credit card balance of $53.00. His business practices are unethical, unreasonable & unproffessional. And I know he has done this to other people-I was out infront of his business with a sign yesterday & was told by another patron he ripped off as well. His busniess is for sale & at Christmas time he covered his sign to get people to buy from him-it is now uncovered. I did call the police but they are unable to do anything about it & I contacted my bank also but they are also unable to do anything about it-saying it is a matter between me & the jeweler, also contact my local news paper & they are unable to report on it-fearing being sued. And he is not a memeber of the BBB-so that cant help me either. If you can help in any way to correct this issue-I would appreciate it greatly.
