VOTE for Karen Nielsen, 2012 Cold Spring Harbor Fire District Commissioner if you want: Antiquated Fire/Rescue equipment Poor training Poor response times A dilapidated headquarters building As 2011 Board of Fire Commissioners Chair Person, Ms. Nielsen has taken multiple illegal actions to have her way with the fire district. Ask to see district monthly meeting minutes. Oh wait... there aren't any. Come visit a monthly district meeting and witness the abuse of authority, given by Ms. Nielsen. Oh wait... they are constantly cancelled by Commissioner Nielsen so she does not have to answer for her actions. For a safer fire district, vote NO for the re-election of Commissioner Karen Nielsen.

Your post was very well written and factual, I would have left off the last two sentences. I know it's difficult but try not to sink to her level. She really has no idea what she has done to the men and women of the Cold Spring Harbor VOLUNTEER Fire Department and more importantly the residents of Cold Spring Harbor fire district. Since Ms. Karen Nielsen has been on the board taxes have risen 35%, and morale has never been lower with the membership. UNTIL NOW! The community is very lucky to have men and women in their community that give up literally hours at a time very often, these people are some finest I know. We are brothers and sisters bonded together for life by a common cause. We never ask when, who where or why. We just come when anyone calls never asking what's in it for me. She has wakened a sleeping giant, we will not standby and watch her try to destroy a wonderful group of dedicated processionals. We have been here for 150 years and will be here long after she is gone.

I have been a member for a very long time and I'm ashamed by the unprofessional conduct and disrespect displayed at the board meetings by Ms. Nielsen. If this were a corporate environment she would have been removed from the board. The men and women of the Cold spring harbor VOLUNTEER Fire department are all dedicated professionals, YOUR NEIGHBORS who give up hours of their time and come when you call never asking why.

In my opinion she has not acted in the best interests of the Cold Spring Harbor fire district and residents of the community.
