WASTE OF TIME
I signed up to Kingsborough in 2006 and met with a Nursing adviser before I did so. He told me that it takes on average 2 years to complete the Nursing program. Well its 2010 - I have yet to complete it - and never will. In Fall 2008 I was kicked out of the program because my clinical professor gave me the wrong email to send my required clinical reports to - then refused to accept the hard copies - even though I had proof. The policy upon entering the program was 2 failures equates dismissal from the program. Well that semester there was a new Director of Nursing - Prof. Lavin. She changed the policy to 1 failure equated dismissal from the program. No notice was given but a size 8font note on the 50th page in the manual. To make a very long story short after being dismissed - I appealed twice to no avail and have contacted media, lawyers, NLN and everyone in CUNY and have had no luck. I was in my final semester at Kingsborough - after years of administrative mistakes and pitfalls I was finally finishing. Prof. Lavin made sure to tell me that she recommends I choose a new career as no one will accept me because of my failure. This failure had nothing to do with my skills, responsibility, or grades but a mistake on the professors part and although I showed time-stamped emails proving my case - I was denied. Now after so many years of dedication and time and money spent I am left without a career and any prospects. This bullying and dis-concern with peoples time, energy, and sacrifice - is unacceptable and a public college that boasts that the staff is there for the students should really not be allowed to ruin someones life so easily.
