I purchased a male Ragdoll kitten from this breeder in Sept 2009 (born in July). On Jan 7th 2011 my cat died from FIP. If anyone has ever experienced FIP, then you know the anguish and heartache it brings. The kitten I purchased never really was a very healthy boy and didn't exhibit the behavior that I was expecting from a Ragdoll ... which led me to believe perhaps he wasn't 100% Ragdoll. Bad temperment always hissing and growling ... never liked to be held. Purchasing this kitten was my first experience with a breeder and if I knew then what I know now, then I should have run for the hills! This place is unkept, stinks to high heaven, has numerous dogs outside in a fenced in area, dogs inside ... a good 2 dz kittens (various breeds plus a few strays) were in this huge cage with one small litter box that was overflowing with feces. Overcrowded, unkept catteries is a breeding ground for FIP. Looking back to earlier vet visits with my cat show signs that something was in the works. While I cannot prove 100% that my cat brought the FIP coronavirus from the cattery, the indicators are quite strong that is the only place it could have come from. I am writing this not to put the breeder out of business, I simply want to tell all potential customers to be on their guard and use their best judgement before they purchase heartache. I have every reason to believe FIP is at this cattery and if you buy from there, BE CERTAIN TO HAVE THE KITTEN GUARANTEED TO BE FCoV FREE!!!
