BAD product
Magic Jack... I should have read all the complaints before I got this. Due to unemployment I had to drop my cell phone and try this.
After days of trying to fix whatever was wrong with it on their live chat it came down to my wireless router was causing it to drop EVERY single call after 32 seconds. I took out my router. Then a few days later the small extension wire they send you started smoking and fried. My computer shut down. It wont even post to Bios now.I am replacing the mother board. As soon as I even hinted at computer damage they slammed the door in my face in the live chat. TWICE they did that. I said I wanted to talk to the top dog or be given an email where I could reach them. They have no way to be contacted except through the live chat.
STAY AWAY from this product. Even when it worked it was low volume and sounded like crappy walkie talkies.
Ive been forced to contact the Better business bureau. Hopefully someone can shut this company down and make them pay up for all the damage they have done. This product may work well for some, but it is a nightmare to most I would bet.

DONT USE IT!!!

Preventing calling other provider's server
I have a magic Jack internet phone line. I wanna call my own long distance service provider in Toronto which is called STARTEC and its phone number is 416-623-3401. Magic Jack reroutes me to their own long distance service provider which is WIMAX. I contacted them 3 times and had chat with their top tec-supports. They don't give me a proper answer, just telling me "this is a routing problem". but I can call my cell phone which it's number is very similar to STARTEC. Obviously they want to force people to use their long distance service.

3x deduction of $20.91 thru c-card
this morning at around 11:58 am saudi arabia time June 30, 2011 i will use my magic jack but i have a problem to use it because an email login appear after i login a renewal plan table of 1 year & 5 year plan appear i selected a 1 year plan renewal then when i press next a deduction of $20.91 deducted my samba credit card ending with 3636 but still it shows that it is declined, i tried again for the 2nd time and again it deducted $20.91 thru my samba credit card ending with 3636 and still it is MJ internal decline on PO box then i tried again for the 3rd times and it deducted $20.91 again thru my samba credit card ending with 3636 and still it is MJ internal decline...What shall i do regarding this matter. billed for service I don't have
Going into my third year with a Magic Jack and have to said it's provided trouble free service but, yesterday I saw a charge on my cc from them for a vanity number which I do not have. Called them and they said they would credit me for the amount but I could not get an answer out of the support person as to how I got charged for a vanity number when I don't and never have had one. The Magic Jack works great like I said and I use it alot on both a Mac and a PC and sometimes with a laptop. OSX/Windows XP and Windows 7.

Have a Magic Jack...The only thing I hate about it is I signed up for a 330 area code number. I lived in Akron and that was the area code. When I signed up they never said they didnt have any Akron's numbers. My friends and family cant call me local.

Does not work!
Simply put...MAGIC JACK DOES NOT WORK!
It does not allow for communication between callers. It makes a skipping sound or no sound at all! There are times where no dial tone is available then there may be a dial tone but does not allow the call to go through after dialing. Other times phone calls are cut off for no reason. When it works, rarely, it does not allow voice messages to come through from the callers. Call waiting does NOT work as claimed.

In a nut shell, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

30 day free free credit card for 19.95
I offered tp try the 30 day free use offered by magicjack with cr card needed to sign up with the explanation speel that charges of 19.95 would appear after 30 days!! Attempted to signup several times with 2 separate attempts - and 2 different cards. both cards refused to accept charges because immediate processed charges exceeded 49.. Also received an email offer from florence@gobni-chagall, net to which I responded - your hype hype does not ring ring ring true TRUE - EXPLAIN your action by attempting to instantly process $50. charges??? SCAMAWAY!!! did not get a reply.

Magic Jack 's advertising is false. You cannot call New Brunswick, Yukon or Saskatchewan. (last I heard, they are a part of North America). Also, there is no 911 service available to Canadian customers. I was told I needed a Canadian number for 911 services and paid $10 for that number plus $10. to change my number and 911 still does not work. Good luck when seeking Customer Service...there is none. Do not buy this product...and tell your friends.

I am encouraging the big dollar stores: Future Shop, Best Buy, Radio Shack and all media that advertises the Magic Jack; This is a fraudulant company. They do not give what they advertise. They spend more money on foolish chat lines and imaginary engineers. This is probably a company run out of somebodys cottage or basement, literally making millions of dollars off of hard working Americans and Canadians. I am encouraging every Magic Jack owner who has been ripped off to contact the above big buck stores and complain to them because they sell the Magic Jack, contact the media, and the FCC, as well as any member of government that can help you shut them down. Complaining to Magic Jack is USELESS. Hit them where it hurts: in thier pocket book. Somebody in the US should contact a lawyer and launch a class action lawsuit against Magic Jack and take millions from their pocket. If I was in the US I would do this in a second! Because I am living in Canada, and a Canadian citizen, hiring a lawyer is not a remedy I can use. I purchased the Magic Jack at Best Buy. I paid in cash in full and have my reciept. I went online to hook it up, paid an extra $10 for a Canadian phone number. I ordered a second Magic Jack online for my daughter. The first one worked fine. The second I could not get it hooked up and it would not work so I sent it back immediately and disputed the cost with my credit card company, which was returned to me immediately. This pissed off Magic Jack so the cut off the service of the first purchase which was already paid for a year in advance. I have been without phone service since April 7, 2011. I have no hope that they will ever turn it back on. My service was supposed to run through till August 12, 2011. They ripped me off for 4 months. In this time, I have had to rely on a neighbour to call 911 to contact an ambulance to take me to the hospital, where I was treated for a minor heart attack. If I was in the US, I would sue Magic Jack for the remainder of my 4 months as well as pain and suffering and punitive damages, as I can prove everything that I have said on this compaint and they would lose. All it takes is 1 person in the US to contact a lawyer for the rest of us. Do not take this laying down. To me they are no better than a terrorist as they have put terror in my life. I urge each and every person who has had a bad experience with Magic Jack to take time and email their local and state governments as Magic Jack is a US based company. They do not have any telephone numbers you can call, nor do they ever release any information on thier CEO's or Presidents of thier company, Although, today I found out the name of their CEO. His name is Dan Borislow. Anyone who can get a phone number or an email to this particular person, I would be greatly appreciative if you could email it to me at [email protected] . This particular CEO needs to be sued so that he cannot own these mulimillion dollar homes, fancy cars, big boats and continue to laugh at each and every one of us. What is it going to take for you people in the United States to wake up and do something? If I had the resources at the end of my hands like you people in the US, I would not have been without a telephone at all. In Canada, we cannot sue like the people in the US. We have laws that prevent us from suing like you do in the US. In Canada, we have to put out the money upfront to sue anybody which can run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. So for a normal individual this is not fesable. In the US, lawyers take cases like this on and take a percentage of the winnings as their fee. It does not matter where you live in the US, if you have been a victim to the company Magic Jack, remember you can blame everybody that sells the product and advertises it to be an honest and good thing. It's like this; you throw a bucket of sh*t and whoever it sticks to you sue. Hopefully there will be 1 person in the US with enough courage to make that phone call, and if you do, don't forget to email me and let me know you started the ball rolling. I will definately send all information that I can to help. This is my complaint.
