lost contact lists
The Magicjack dial pad which appears on the screen has a screen in it that reads “Contact List” This screen would allow you to enter a contacts name and phone number so that later you could click on the contact and it would automatically dial the number.

As of yesterday evening the screen reads “CONTACT LIST IS EMPTY” and we are unable to click and dial. Those who don’t have a hard copy backup are in serious trouble.

From the waiting time on www.magicjack.com/6/customercare.asp I can assume that thousands if not millions of their subscribers are affected. All I could get out of their live chat reps was “they are working on correcting this as soon as possible and this is being done to improve your service”.

Magicjack is very well shielded from the public. My research indicates that their corporate office is located in West Palm Beach, FL. The only phone number I was able to come up with is 561-594-2140 and it’s only a recording directing to the link above.

The local BBB at 717-787-3391, may be able to provide more information, as well as the AG. The consumer protection line is: 800-441-2555.

My big concern is: Where did my information go, is it at some third party, or is it out in cyber space where hackers and others can scrutinize it?

Dose not work
I received a magicJack form my father. He used it a few years ago when he went over seas and he said he had no major problems with. I hooked it up to my computer and tried to register it, got to the page where I submitted my credit card info then it just went blank. So i contacted their joke of a customer service. Its a live chat and it is horrible. After 5 hours of chatting, 4 "upgrades", submitting my credit card info 7 times and even giving them remote access to my computer the problem was never fixed. When I told them how upset I was and that I wanted to talk to a live person they told me that there was no number to call the chat was to better serve the customers. I never got the darn thing to work and they now have my credit card info. I advise anyone who reads this never use magicJack . I should have listened to the complaints I read before I tried.

poor service - filed complaint with BBB of Florida where company is based
Unable to place certain local calls. unable to call some local and state government numbers. Charged time out of my International minutes that I pay extra for even when the phone isn't answered or doesn't connect. Customer Service chat does not do anything...makes empty promises.

Doesn't work as advertised
Save your money. This product is not dependable. It will not work as advertised. They know there are some area codes and prefixes it will not dial. All you will get is a temporary beeping and hang up.

I tried there "live Tech Chat"...useless. Can barely understand what you ask and have nothing but canned answers. There is no phone c/s any longer, which is probably understandable since this thing doesn't do what they say it will. When I chatted with their "tech", he said they know there is a problem and it should be fixed in a few hours. That was over a week ago and it still isn't working properly. They even make it a multiple step process now to get to their live chat.

It is not worth what you pay for it.

THERE IS NO WAY TO CANCEL THE 100% RISK FREE TRIAL.
THE COMPANY GIVES A RUN-AROUND WHEN WE CALL THE NUMBER...BUT NEVER IS THERE A CHANCE FOR CANCELLATION.
THE WRITTEN RULES ON THE PAMPHLET WE RECEIVED TO ORDER THIS SAYS WE MUST THAT A RECEIPT HAS TO BE RETURNED WITH THE MERCHANDISE. THIS PRODUCT WAS ORDERED OVER THE PHONE, SO WE CAN'T RETURN IT.
PLEASE ADVISE HOW WE CAN RETURN.

refund
I returned my magicJack product and found AGAIN that funds had been removed from my debit account. Isn't it fraud to keep both the product and the funds that were deducted? I now understand why this company cannot be reached by telephone. With their business practices they wouldn't be able to staff the phones to field all the dissatisfied consumers!!

Stay away
My Magicjack stopped working. I spent three hours with their chat help. I did the same thing that asked three times. I told them that it would be cheaper to just replace it instead of going through the same thing with them time after time. They kindly offered to sell me another one. Like wanted another piece of their junk. I finally t5old them I wasn't jumping through their hoops any longer and asked for the address of their corporate office. The chat help terminated the chat. I cant find an address for them any where. They sell you their junk and disappear.

Don't use it
Just spent 3 hours on magicjack chat, did the same things three times trying to fix it with no results. Asked for a replacement, they refused. Asked for an address to write them and they cut off chat. I recommend not using magicjack.

Support & billing
As many wrote before, support is non-existent. You can find a number in TX for billing questions, but it will ask you to leave a message ("they are soooooo busy").
The gimmick they pulled with me, was to in the middle of my one-year subscription, and below an e-mail they sent me re a technical matter, "confirm" an order f0r five year service (which I never placed) and immediately charged my credit card for the 69.95 price. Unfortunately I discovered this too late. Their technical site resp0nded by stating that they would pass the complaint on to "billing" but nothing has happened for months. The worst part is, that they cancelled the remainder of my one year subscription (6 months were left) and supposedly entered the new subscription for 5 years. I can find no confirmation that they have in fact credited me for any 5 year period. I WOULD NEVER TRUST THESE FOLKS and continue to rely on Skype.
