I just had two young ladies come to my door. They said they were selling magazine subscriptions to help their softball team buy uniforms and pay for a trip. Since my daughter was a softball player, I feel for it! Something did not feel right after they left so I looked up the company, Marquis Fulfillment Agency online and discovered I had been scammed. Story I got from the girls was similar to those described on-line... Parents said to tell me "such and such"; "don't include your phone #"; "we'll do chores for you if you want", etc. I passed on the chores, but I wrote each girl a check for a magazine subscription for $53.00 to be donated to an overseas soldier. Thankfully, I was able to put a stop payment on both checks, which I figure will be cheaper then the checks being cashed. I am fairly new to this neighborhood, having just moved back from another state a couple months ago so the girls probably really don't even live close by. And since I was "donating" the subscriptions, I would have never known the difference either after the checks were cashed!
