I purchase my home from M/I homes 6/2006 with the hopes that this would be my last home. To start off I was advised to go through M/I homes for my mortgage, they would give me a point off on my interest rate. Just for history I had a home in California for 10 years & never had an interest rate like the one given to me by M/I (11.4%). Prior to moving into the home I was advised that a window in the great room was cracked, which I advised M/I several times so that it could be replaced, but never had anyone come out to replace it. Later I was informed that the company that they used to install the windows no longer worked for M/I. So needless to say 4 years later the window is still cracked & M/I has not made any effort to correct the problem. I was informed during my walk through when I questioned why the floor in the master bedroom creeked so bad that once I got my furniture in there that it would settle (still creeks). We recently had hard rains & in the master bathroom the window now has bubbling of the window where the water came through & has now ruined the drywall. I have also had Airtrone technicians out to my house now 10 times in the past 4 years for repairs to an air conditioning unit & last night I had a technician come out to tell me that the air conditioners "coil" that was replaced 4/09 was bad & that I could either pay $1, 700.00 to replace it or consider having another unit installed. I am so finished with the problems that I have had with M/I homes & their contractors that if I did not have $50, 000.00 invested in the home I would walk away from it. But I refuse for them to force me from my investment. I would love to find an attorney that would sue each & everyone involved in the with the manufacturing of this home. I will be one of the people that tell each & everyone that I come in contact with that M/I homes is one of the "worst" home builders & to avoid them at all cost. I would never purchase anything that they had a hand in building.
