Obtaining Subscription from Minors
I learn of this company after I received a statement from the bank that had charges on it from this company. My son and I are owners of this account, and at the time, this account was almost $400.00 overdraft. He was a minor at the time he received the call from Nationwide Readers Services (NRS) to order this magazines. He was not cognizant of this kind of responsibility. This company charge our account $68.28 which he didn't have in the at the time of the order. The customer service representative, which I will call the sweet talker from this point on, persuated my son to order FOUR magazines for 18 months at $68.28. This child had not idea that this was going to be a monthly charge. That is absolutely outrageous. Who in their right or mature mind would agree to such a thing. I, as an adult, would never. To top all of that off, my son was promised a $70.00 gas card and a watch. I cancelled the authorization to withdraw those fees from the account and closed it. Now these folks are calling my house for their $68.28 a month. They aren't getting $#@t. I will be calling their customer service office first thing Monday because somethis has to be done about this. These people prey on unsuspecting people such as minor and the elderly just to sell. There should be some law into place where this should NEVER happen. If I could get my hands around that sweet talkers neck, he would definitely be DEAD MEAT.
