NCL is the only line I know of that now x-rays all checked baggage looking for alcohol. We had one bottle of special wine in my bag to celebrate an anniversary. They held my bag until I paid a $15 ransome.

Our balcony room was tiny and the balcony itself was postage stamp size. Very much not worth all the extra cost.

Our experience was that "Freestyle cruising" means lack of organization and personal service, long waiting lines, and extra charges for everything possible. Never again.
