On Monday 22 March, I hit a jetty and damaged the boat. I took the boat to Nu Wave on the 23rd of March, the boat stood for a week because Gavin who 'owns' the workshop had gone on leave, which annoyed me. Gavin gave us the first quote a week later and Nu Wave copied his quote, the quote was honored by the insurance. I felt the quote was very high for the small fibreglass repair.I spoke to a friend of mine in the fibreglass business and he agreed, he also offered his expertise to repair the boat. Insurance accepted and paid us directly. After leaving 6 messages still no reply from Nu Wave or Gavin. My wife went to pick up the boat and told Gavin she was taking it. A guy by the name of George was standing in the workshop screamed at her, if she takes the boat she has to pay him R3000.00 for the quote, she laughed at him, but he was adamant, then he changed his story that it was for storage. Not our fault Gavin was on leave? She asked them to fax an invoice with a breakdown of how they arrived at this figure, they couldnt tell her as this was 'just a figure' they wanted to release the boat. I phoned Ken to discuss this and he was not negotiable. We had to pay before collection!!!
