I checked into the Paola Beach Hotel in Old Epidavros, Greece, and went out to see a friend and eat. On returning to the hotel, the owner, clearly drunk, complained about the friend whom I had seen, and began to insult me. I insulted back, whereupon he attacked me with a metal bar. I was in the tricky position of either hitting him hard, or leaving . I chose to leave, as I did not want a police hassle.
