Paramount Acceptance Reviews

Contract Scam
Over a year ago, I signed a month-to-month contract with Powerhouse Gym in Elk Grove, CA under the previous owners. After a few months time, I asked to terminate my contract with them, which they did with no hesitation. I filled out a brief letter at the counter stating my intent (which was required by the contract). The automatic payments stopped, and I thought that was the end of it.

Exactly one year later, there was a new owner of this Gym, Cedrick Washington, who hired Paramount Acceptance to manage finances for his business. Part of that business apparently was to review previous contracts and re-institute them. Suddenly, my old month-to-month contract, which was legally terminated last year, was resurrected into a YEAR-LONG contract and I started getting daily phone calls about why the dues weren't being paid.

No one cares to listen to my story about the contract termination, and I feel like I've been scammed by somebody's (intentional) accounting error. At any rate, the calls keep coming and I have been threatened with bad credit reporting and collections. More than a dozen calls to Mr. Washington went unanswered.

VERY bad business!

I hate this guys!
So 8 months ago i joined a World Gym in Idaho. On the contract i made i put that i only wanted my membership to last for 4 months. the representative at the gym said it was totally ok if i only wanted it for 4 months and that i was not bound to be a member for any other amount of time. I remember seeing on the contract that my membership was only going to last for 4 months so rightly i assumed that after 4 months i wouldn't have to pay anymore. a few months later i found out that i was still being billed for membership at world gym. this didn't make sense to me so i called up world gym and they referred me to paramount. After talkin to paramount i found out that they automatically renew your contract after the contract period is over. i, of course, didn't know about this. I asked what i had to do then in order to cancel my membership. I was told that once i send in a fax that notifies them of my cancellation that they would then cancel it. So i sent in a fax then called to verify that they had received they said that they did. I then asked if i wasn't going to be billed anymore. they then told me that i was still going to be billed for another 2 months because you're supposed to notify them 60 days in advance of when you want to have your membership cancelled. I HATE THESE GUYS!!! my membership was supposed to be cancelled after 4 months but they choose to instead to prolong it without even notifying me. I hope they burn in hell. All that these people have done is lie to me. NEVER get a membership with world gym or with any gym that is affiliated with paramount acceptance.

Poor service!
I canceled my membership with this company in April because I was moving. I made phone calls and was told I had to pay a sum to cancel my membership. This is normal. I moved but left my old bank account open to finalize other transactions. When I finally closed my account several months later I received a statement which showed that paramount had continually taken money from my account for my gym membership. I had canceled five months prior. I called to find out what had happened. I was told that the last months transaction was not paid because my bank account was closed and that I owed for that month. I explained my situation and the person with which I was speaking had no idea what was going on and gave me another person to contact. After making more phone calls and leaving more messages I was told that my contract was never canceled because I never sent in my 30 day notice. I had talked with three different people on three different days and no one ever told me about this. I mentioned this and they wouldn't refund any of my money and said that if I wanted to cancel I had to send in my 30 day cancellation and that months gym fee AND another cancellation fee. After numerous emails and phone calls I simply gave up and paid. This company does not deal honestly with its clients and gives the gyms it represents a very very bad image. I personally will never join a gym that uses Paramount acceptance as its finance collector and I would suggest the same to anyone that read this. Also I would suggest that no gyms use there services as there are numerous complaints on the internet regarding this company.
