I purchased "spyware doctor" in June 2009. After using it for some months, I uninstalled it from my computer. On 5/22/2010, I got an email from pctools saying they were about to renew my subscription automatically. They claimed that I had agreed to automatic renewal. I would not have done that, if it were a straightforward question. I suspect it is buried in their "I agree to everything" boilerplate that you have to tick if you want to buy the product. By searching carefully through the small print and following links, I found that I could cancel the renewal by logging on to "myaccount" and following instructions. For questions, I could respond to the email. I was unable to log onto "myaccount." I requested a new password, which was sent, but it did not work. I searched their web site for a telephone number. They list none. I replied to their email, saying that I wanted to cancel in no uncertain terms. I received no reply. Today (5/29/2010), I received an email saying that they had automatically renewed my subscription for $29.95. The return address was the same as before. I again replied, saying I wanted to cancel and also forwarded other correspondence I had received from them (such as password re-set). I can see the charge on my VISA card.
