I have been bringing my 3 oldest children to Pediatric Dental Health for my insurance paid cleanings since they were about 3. I have refused all fluoride treatments for my children. This information was recorded in their charts. At one visit (with all 3) I was out of the room with one child having x-rays and returned to find they had given my daughter a fluoride treatment. They were very apologetic, but it should not have happened.
Yesterday, I brought my oldest in for a cleaning. They REFUSED to do her cleaning unless I would agree to xrays! They insisted she "must" have routine xrays. I declined. The hygenist was adamant that it was "not allowed" for her to go more than 2 yrs without xrays. I continued to decline. I was then asked to move to a consult room to speak with the dentist. Dr. Serena Kassam came in to speak with me. She also insisted that routine xrays were following the standard of care. I informed her that I was knowledgeable, but also had the right to decline any test or treatment. She stated she would do a preliminary exam to see if hygeine was good. I asked her specifically "Are you telling me you won't clean her teeth unless I consent to xrays?" and she said "yes" I will never go here again.
