I purchased 2 Philips DVDR 985 DVD recorders at a price of $700.00 dollars each. Both died after one year and Philips says, to bad... out of warranty. Both units do exactly the same thing. A code appears on the LCD and the machines lockup. Even after unplugging them and plugging them back in the code stays their and the units are useless.
