We purchased a Rinnai Direct Vent Wall Furnace for our sunroom in 2008. During the winter season, when the unit was in use, we began to experience problems with the unit. A sequence of lights would blink across the control panel and we would have to restart the unit. We had several visits with various service technicians, who specifically service Rinnai products, but did not seem to know what the blinking panel meant. Each time various installations and upgrades were completed, but the original problem was only temporarily solved and never completed cleared up. Rinnai never admitted that the unit may be bad. Now it has been three years and we have not had the original problem resolved. Now we have begun to be charged for labor and Rinnai has taken on the atitude of "we are covering these visits as a courtesy" The most recent visit was done because Rinnai told us that a person had to come out and diagnose the problem before they would do anything (dispite all the previous invoices stating what was happening). The technician came out and ran a history of the control, which could have been done two years ago for the original problem, and he also removed a few spider webs. Now Rinnai is stating that because he removed some spider webs it turned the visit into a maintenance call and they would not cover it. The spider webs did not cause the original problem of the blinking control panel, which has been happening for three years. We have never been so frustrated with a product and a company. We paid a lot for this product and felt we were paying for a quality product that would last for sometime hassel-free, but that is not the case.
