Caught a KLM flight from Amsterdam Schipol to Manchester yesterday. When collecting baggage, there were 8 or 9 people left with out bags on my flight alone. Probably only about 150 on the plane!!! One of those without baggage was my wife. Even worse was the fact that there were 8 or 9 unclaimed bags as well, which should presumably have been on another flight. Essentially we flew with so many unattanded bags. What a security risk!!! Problem stems from Schipol airport which has the worst checking in process I have every seen. Basically everyone can check in at whatever desk, regardless of their flight. Most other airports have specific check in desks per flight. I remember thinking at check in, wow this must be a nightmare to get all the bags to the right flight behind the scenes, turns out I was right. I wouldn't be surprised if Schipol holds the worst records for lost luggage handling. Does anybody know if there are any comparitive data for lost luggage from airport to airport. Several of those who had lost luggage on my flight had to make connections to fly onwards. My advice never ever fly to or from Schipol if you can help it. It was absolute chaos. Incompetent. Shame on you Schipol/KLM
