I was ironing my clothes last night, 20 March 2011 for work. I set my Shark iron as usual but to my surprise, my iron I purchased from Wal-mart in Albany, Georgia approxiamtely one year ago almost caught on fire. At first I thought I had it set to high, so I reduced the temperture thinking that it would work properly so I started ironing my skirt. Unfortunately, it burned my favorate skirt and the iron turned red and I thought that it wast about to burst into flames. I unplugged it and smoke was everywhere. The bottom of the iron, which was a nice stainless steel, now looks like it was torched. This iron is indeed a hazard. I still have the box, but unfortunately the receipt was not in the box. I read in the manual provided that you do not provide service to your product without a receipt. Needless to say I'm very disappointed to know that I'm out $50.00 and one of my favorite skirts. I am thankful that nothing but the iron went up in smoke, but I'm very disappointed to know that without a receipt you do not honor your product. At this tough economical times, its hard to replace a $50.00 iron that only lasts a year
