Our car was impounded by LV PD when my Husband was involved in an accident and was arrested for DUI. I came to Las Vegas on 2-24 to Bail him out and get the car out of impound. I drove to the impound lot (Sunrise Towing 2132 Commerce, North Las Vegas NV 89030 Phone 649-4060) and the clerk (a heavyset female) told me I would need $374.00 - I left and obtained the money and came back to pay. I asked if the car was drivable. The clerk said "I don't know" I asked is I could see the car and the clerk said "after you pay". I paid the fees, and was escorted to the car only to find it demolished and not drivable. I walked back to the clerk and told her "the car is not drivable - so I will be leaving it and I would like my $374.00 back". The clerk said "sorry no refunds". We left the car at the impound yard. I called the police who recommended that I file a complaint with your agency, since the impound lot was both PAID and KEEPING the car. This is not only unfair - it is unethical. I think the Towing company should at the least refund the fees paid, or at most forward funds received for the scrap value of the car.
