I'm surprised that anyone works for this company
I went to the store in Palatine, Illinois on Dundee Rd. one evening and what I heard was very concerning. The blond haired manager was screaming at another employee on the floor in front of everyone. That wasn't very professional. I feel sorry for all of the employees that have to work for/with this person because she was verbally abusive and very demeaning. That isn't how you get the job done, lady. I'm sure there's been cutbacks but to treat people with such vemon...it was truly ugly and I felt very very sorry for her. Target Corp. Why do you keep these people? I'm surprised that anyone works for this company. I won't be back.

I will NEVER shop at Target again!
I WAS a Target customer for many years and was thrilled to create a Club Wedd Registry last year for my late September wedding. One of the items I had on the list was the Jade Moon 16-piece Dinnerware Set ($79.99). I requested and received three boxes of it. My husband and I bought our home in January and decided that the dinnerware didn't go with our Tuscany theme. We were so happy to see that Target had the perfect set instead, the Tuscan Sunflower Dinnerware Set.
We took the three boxes to their Hackettstown, NJ store. Our plan was to get a credit for the Jade Moon to use towards the purchase of the Tuscan Sunflower. The guest services representative printed out our registry. She told us that since it has been over 90 since our wedding date, we were not entitled to a credit but could do an exchange for something else in the store but it had to be from one specific aisle (dinnerware). Unfortunately, the Tuscan Sunflower Set is available online only. I told her I would place the order right then and there in the store and she said that would not be possible. We were appalled and left the store.
When I got home I called their customer service number of 800-591-3869. I explained my problem to the representative, who I could hardly understand because of his heavy Indian accent. He found two of the orders because the gift givers purchased them online. His exact words were "you are stuck with them" because it was 90 days after the purchases were made. 90 days had passed before I even received them at my bridal shower! First the policy is 90 days after the wedding date, now it is 90 days after the purchase?
Being aware of their return policy of being able to return items without a receipt for $70 per year, we visited their Toms River, NJ location to return one box. We were prepared to "eat" the $9.99. We were told that because the price is over $70, it could not be returned! WHAT?
I will NEVER shop at Target again. Saying their return policy SUCKS is an understatement, especially for a registry!

Sent across town to pick up TV at another location and charged over $100 more!
On Thursday, Feb 18 2010 my girlfriend and I went to Target looking for a TV. They were out of the advertised $299 32 inch TV's so the salesman Keith started trying to sell me another TV. Keith was great and after a lengthy conversation about features and pricing, we decided that a Visio 32 inch TV for $343.85 (Item #008091436) was the best for me. We talked about how the $10 per inch guideline was a good reference for buying HDTV's at a good price. I asked about several TV's and specifically if certain TV's of the same size and features were worth the extra money. We really did talk at length about features and pricing. My girlfriend was very bored. We decided that the Vizio had the connectivity and resolution I wanted for the extra $44. I told him I'd take it. He looked for one but said that they were out but that he'd try and find me one at another store. He typed on a handheld computer for a bit and then made some phone calls while we waited. He located one at another store and they said they'd hold it for 24 hours for "Ted." I thanked him and we went on our way to the store that had my TV waiting for me. Upon arrival at the store he sent me to, I noticed several things. There were a number of signs up in the electronics department with price matching in big letters. I also noticed that the same Visio TV here was significantly more expensive (459.99 vs. 343.85 = $116.14 difference! An increase of 34%!). The sales rep said Id have to pay the higher price. I asked for the manager. Manager Priscilla called the store that sent me and confirmed on the computer that it was the same item but still demanded the extra $116! I said I would not and wanted to take the next step (talk to someone above her). She gave me an 800 number that I called. They were closed. I called the next day and was on the phone for an hour and a half and talked to Abby, Wilona, and Mike (at corporate ref # 1-443178001) and all of them told me that I was out of luck. They would match a competitors advertised price but would not honor what was promised to me by one of their own representatives. Unacceptable. All I want is to buy the TV for the price I was promised and already needlessly drove all the way across town for. For my troubles I should probably even be given a discount off of the $343 price!

Return Policy
Just a caution to on-line shoppers regarding Target's return policy. It was the first time I'd ordered something from Target on-line that I had to return. I ordered a rug and assumed I would be able to return it to the store. WRONG! Before ordering with them make sure you check to see how the item can be returned. The rug had to be shipped back to them at my expense and it cost me $55 to ship! That's a high price to pay for something you're not keeping!

ABUSE
I used to work there and could get promoted. But the Old Hens Club that is running the place wouldn't promote me cause I was a man. I was promised a promotion when I did some LOD work but they lied.
They recently got another gal in there as Exec and she is messing up on everything. Jennifer is her name I think, or so my sources say. She has been losing business and employees right and left GOOD!

Hiring practices
Target is the worst company in the universe. I worked for Target for 3 years. I started as a Team Leader which is an hourly position. I was promoted to an Executive Team Leader position which is a salaried management position. Eventually, I was told I was topped out because I did not have a college degree. I was told by my store manager that they loved my results, but without a degree I had gone as far as I was going to go. I left the company- working a 2 week notice. Two years later, I applied at Target. I could not even get an interview because I did not have a degree. I had excellent performance reviews, left in good standing, and had actually performed the job I was applying for- but oh...no degree...no interview. This company wants cookie-cutter fresh out of college kids who don't want to do physical work, but they fit the "image" Target wants to portray. I didn't have a degree when I was promoted, but I was told I was an exception because of my strong performance. In the end, Target is a technology forward company that I admired, but they are very single-minded about hiring. Getting a degree shows commitment, but so does years of experience. They sell themselves short with their single-minded pursuit of college educated candidates.

Crappy service
I ordered an item from Target 's website. The shipping estimate was four days after the order date. That date passed and I got an email saying the shipment was delayed. The new estimated shipping date passed. Ten days after I had ordered the item, I contacted Target to ask what was going on. They told me the item was out of stock and I could just wait until if/when it became available again. They didn't bother to inform me on their own; I had to contact them and ASK what in the world was up. The service rep used very condescending and dismissive language in his email to me.
They gave me a crappy $3 discount on a future order as an "apology." I wrote back and told them to remove it from my account because I'll never shop at Target again. They removed the discount and then said they hope I'll shop at Target again. They are friggin' STUPID as well as rude. I hate Target with a burning passion and will be badmouthing them in every place I can find.

Awful place
We were visting our daughter in Silverthorn, CO from PA. We went to Target to buy her several things she needed. When we went to check out a older gentelmem ask us if we wanted to open a Target account. I work for a high end dept. store and I understand the importance of opening new accounts. It is a part of your review, it bring back customers in the store. It is one of if not the most important parts of the job, but when we were asked to open an account the gentelmen was VERY rude. He made a remark about leading us to the money, but if we didn't want to take it that was our loss. That is a very unprofessional way and degrading pracitce to solisit an account. He needs to be more professional about his motives of opening new accounts. And then he had all our bags behind the counter and as we were leaving he said, "Ahh, don't you want the rest of your purchases?" He treated us in a very unprofessionl manner. We were there to help our daughter while visting your beautiful state and town. This employee was a great disappointment to our trip. The date was Jan.21, 2009 @ 8:06 pm our reciept ID # 2-9021-1525-0075-0980-7. We spent$264.09 that day, that is a lot of money for us and I didn't appreciate thie gentlemens rudness.

Prejudice
I have a muscle disease that makes standing up difficult so use a wheelchair more often than not.I applied for a job that I was capable of doing and was rejected.I was called to come in for an interview.I showed up and instead of an interview I was directed to a computer.I complained to Target and was told that I turned the job down and never showed up.That is just a lie.In order to seem like my handicap was not an issue they will just lie their way out of conflict. They must be stopped this is not just illegal and unfair it is just wrong.
