Discount Lie
I love to shop at your store in Bellingham. There are a lot of things that I like about your store. For example, the customer service and the deals are always great. But I believe that I did not get the discount while I was using a credit card when I should have gotten.
A year ago I shopped at your store and the cashiers always offered me to get a credit card to get a discount of 10% off. After that I started using a credit card to pay for my purchases. I believe I shopped at your store three times and I never got a 10% discount.
I would love to shop at your store but I feel that there is a discount fraud or a mistake.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
My husband and I went to TJ Maxx to purchase slacks for him - he selected 4 pairs and went into the fitting room. I was returning something and followed him to the fitting room. The obnoxious woman in charge of the fitting room banged on the door and told me "You stay out here!" pointing to a corner. So I started to walk towards the jewelry counter which was across the aisle - she kept yelling "YOU STAY HERE!" Like she was ordering a dog around. When all I wanted to do was make sure the slacks my husband was trying on looked good.

I love all the good deals I've gotten at TJ Maxx over the years, but this was the most horrible experience I've had an any retail establishment - if this is how TJ Maxx is training their employees, I'll go to a real department store and pay full price just to get better service.

Service
I went to the TJ Maxx in Evanston, IL. My mother had bought me a shirt from the Runway section, and the size was wrong so I wanted to exchange it for a bigger size or exchange it for another shirt of the same value ($150). I go to school in the Evanston area and my parents live 2 hours away, so I did not have a receipt for the shirt. The first man I talked to rudely told me that the exchange/return policy did not allow me to do anything without a receipt. I went home and checked the return policy and it clearly stated that I could return an item without a receipt but would only receive store credit. I went back with a printed copy of this, and the same guy rudely told me that he knows his return policy and would not take it back. I asked to talk to the manager, and he also told me that he would not take it back. I was in no mood for arguing so I took the shirt back, but on the way out I told the manager about the rude treatment from the other guy. The manager said nothing and the othey guy rudely mumbled at me while I was walking out. I went back to the same TJ Maxx a few days later, and the manager saw me there. The entire time he just followed me around the store watching what I was picking up. He made me feel like a criminal. If I can pay for a $150 blouse, I don't care about trying to save a few dollars here or there. I will never go back to that TJ Maxx and I advise all of you to never go there either, unless you want to be followed like a criminal and be treated rudely. On the other hand, the TJ Maxx is Oak Brook is amazing with great quality and service.

Stealing
So I came into TJ Maxx today. I rip off every tickets to see if I can get a cheaper price. I went up to the service desk and I ask the asian girl if she can check the price for me. She said no! Then she call another asian girl up. I ask her if she can check the price for me, she said to me rudely, "If those fuckers didn't rip off the price there would be less work for us!". I ask to speak to her manager, she said her manager is not in the store. And I ask her who can I speak to, she said no one. Then she said she can't check the price for me and told me I'll have to wait an hour or so. So I went to the back and found a boy working in the rugs department, I ask him to check the prices for me and he said, "Why don't you bring it to the service desk!?! Do I look like I can help you right now? I'm busy!". I flipped out on him and he wouldn't say anything back. Then there's another asian boy with glasses, I ask him to check the price for me, he said, "Oh, I don't work here." Then they paged him to the fitting room and he left. I said, "Excuse, I thought you say you don't work here." He said, "No I didn't. Well, I do work here but I'm not going to help you!". I was looking all over the store for the manager but couldn't find her so I guess I went into the breakroom? Another asian girl was in there and she scream to me, "HEY! you're not suppose to be in here! It's employee only! Can you not read the sign? If you need to use the rest room, it over there to your right!"

I would never go back to that store ever again.

Tyngsborough is even worst!
I tried on a couple of shoes, and one of the employee said to me, "If you're not going to put it back and clean up the mess, don't try on our shoes." I tried to complain to the manager, she walked out with a bag of McDonald and said, "I'm on my lunch, I'll get another manager to help you." What kind of customer service is that?!!?! WTF! Then I continued shopping, everytime I touch something, the employee look at me, I ask them, is there a problem? do it look like I'm stealing. And 3 of the kids reply, "Yeah, it does." I said that's it! Let me speak to your manager! They said "No! We don't have any managers here." So I found the same manager with the bag of McDonald coming in with more foods, I said to her, "Excuse me! Your employees were really rude!" And she said, "Oh, it's okay, well, I'm still on mylunch break, I'll be back in about 20 minutes." So she walk back in the office. I told the kids, I'm going to call the cops and everyone started laughing and hand me the phone. I didn't call the cops on them but I rip about 60 tickets off their mechandise. :) That's what they get for messing with me!

Customer Service
TJ Maxx has always been one of my favorite places to shop - until now. There has never been an issue with my payments over the 30 years I have shopped at this store. I have often written checks, as well as used credit. Last week-end, I was told my check was not authorized by the Certegy Credit System used by the store. My check had my name (rather unique) and I had my driver's license (and other ID) for validation. When I registered my surprise, an adjacent cashier said that this non-authorization seemed to be happening often lately. My checking account had ample funds. The manager came at my request, but told me there was nothing she could do. I was told I would have to pay using some other method.
I considered leaving everything and walking out, but as I had a birthday gift and children's Christmas gifts in my cart, I did pay with credit. I was given a number for Certegy Customer Service. I called and discovered that the issue seemed to be that I had not written checks to TJ Maxx using my new (8 month old)checking account. The Service representative verified that I had excellent financial history with the store, but this was not recognized by the automated service. I was told I could fill out a form to be put on a 'premium' list.
I found this to be a very embarrassing situation. It makes me wonder if TJ Maxx has little concern for their regular customers. While I appreciate the value of having a service that attempts to restrict identity theft, I felt that I had more than adequate proof available within the store. I even thought the manager would recognize me and give me some consideration for a check under $100. Gone are the days of Customer Service.

random policies
I love TJ Maxx. I would like to say I will not shop there again but I know I will with all the great deals. I wil not shop at the Plattsburg store again. The store manager at that store has decided that following corporate policy is not for her. Last christmas I purchased a tin of candy and left the tags on and it was still sealed. I had the reciept and it was 8 days later when I returned. I was denied the return with the statement that they did not return food products. I asked to see where posted. It was not. Then it was "well that is seasonal " I asked where it was posted that seasonal not returnable. It was not. I called customer service from store and they stated" that yes food was returnable when sealed and they do take back seasonal merchandise." this was for a 7.99 item I could not believe it. The solution was for me to mail back the item to corporate recieve a full refund for product and shipping and a certificut. I was told that they could not make the manager take back refund but they would. does not seem like customer service is thriving to me.
Gets better next. I recieved a birthday present from my husband of a pair of reef flip flops 11 dollars. Great deal but I did not like color and I just got a different pair week before that he did not know about. The tag was detached and stapled to reciept. Went to return and got the "we don't take back seasonal merchandise" Again I asked where is this stated? My reciept clearly stated withing 30 days full refund and the merchandise was still on shelf. It had been 12 days. The cashier stated that her manager said she could not take back that she had to listen to her and that it did not matter what the reciept said. I asked to speak to manager and another assistant manager said she could take back this time but scolded me and said that it was a one time only thing. Just wanted to share this lousy service.

Fraud and cheating
Many companies/retailers no longer force customers to provide their phone numbers (if their phone number is unlisted) when paying products via personal check. As long as all other ID is provided by the customer, the cashier of a retail store will simply write "unlisted" on the check and move forward and process the customer's transaction. This, however, is not the policy at TJ Maxx in Escondido, CA. In making a small purchase for my daughter, the cashier and the manager insisted on a phone number. I could easily have made up any number and they would have ignorantly accepted it, but I wanted to let them know that my number was unlisted and they could certainly find me via the DMV or my home address. Besides, what is the use of paying extra for an "unlisted" phone number if I need to give it up each time I write a check? Since they were not willing to work with me to complete my purchase, I asked for my check back and walked out. On the way out the store, the female cashier rudely yelled back at me and my 6 year old daughter, "have a nice day", in the most sarcastic way, in front of more than a dozen people in line. I didn't acknowledge her since she clearly displayed how unprofessional and immature she was. The Manager did not do anything to reprimand her actions, either. TJ Maxx in Escondido, CA, will never earn my patronage again and I now tell everyone my story. The store will need to change their policy regarding check transactions and must teach their employees acceptable customer service and professional conduct, before I can recommend them to my family or friends again.

Bait 'n switch
I shopped at TJ Maxx today and I saw some great jeans on a rack. I thought they would make an awesome present for my girlfriend who really likes this particular brand.

The sign on the rack said $79.99. However, when I went to the checkout, they came up at $99.99.

I told the cashier that the price was wrong. We could both clearly see the sign and the nice cashier agreed with me.

Then the manager decided to step in and veto the 79.99 (correct) price. She said that some of the jeans on the rack were 99.99. I showed her the signage. It says 79.99, not 79.99 and up. She agreed with the verbiage of the sign, but still would not give me the 20.00 difference in price. I think that's called bait and switch, right? Lure you in with one price and then make it more expensive. Good thing I've been trapped in retail for the past 6+ years. I have some connections with TJ Maxx. Just wish I didn't have to go through all of this because the manager had a chip on her shoulder despite her store's incorrect signage. Time to battle!
