Less free channels
Even though Verizon states that they have the same available free channels as Comcast. It appears not to be true. I jut had FIOS installed last week and behold... there are many less free movie stations aired than Comcast. We contacted Verizon and they don't seem to care. Their sales dept stated "we will be sorry to lose you". I may be switching back to Comcast in the near future!

We don't care, we don't have to!
At 10:30 AM this morning (Thursday June 20), I called the number Verizon publishes for their Northgate Kiosk and Northgate store. http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/dispatcher
The phone rang for 6 minutes but nobody answered. This is not uncommon, they often appear understaffed, and that can be understandable. However it seems like robbery that Verizon has billed me for those 6 minutes.
Since changing is costly and time consuming it seems like the old Ma Bell slogan "We don't care, we don't have to."
Thanks,
Tom (long time customer).

Unauthorized charges
We had Verizon DSL for a yr and used Vonage on it. The voice quality was terrible & we were told we needed a faster connection. We cancelled the Verizon local phone service & DSL and ordered cable. We received email that we were being switched to Verizon "DSL without local phone" service which we did not request. When we called up, the customer service reps said that we must have requested this change of service & put us on hold forever. We've tried calling 10 times and sent email to get this rectified & finally gave up at the lack of response. We've since received 2 bills for this service ($31-32 per month). We just want them to cancel this non-existent account & stop billing us for service that we're not using.

Overcharging and lying to customers!
I got my bill for December 2006 and found it to be $10 more than it should be. After some internet sleuthing I have found out that my account was changed, that features that were included for free were erased and added as premium features that I have to pay extra for now.
I previously had access to the wireless web and had 600 included text messages, now I have to pay for my text messaging and the internet is a thing of the past. After unleashing my fury at my local verizon store and calling a friend in the company, my tirade produced a name. A Sales associate by the name of Alex A. from Fargo, ND that works at a Grand Forks ND Verizon store (store number M3589-01). Altered my account without my authorization.
After speaking with his manager Barry, I was apologized to and told that nothing can be done as my plan is no longer available and they cannot put that feature back onto my account without charging me now. Do I smell a rat? I think so. I was also informed that this shady character Alex actually profited with a kickback on his paycheck for his slimy efforts.
He also assured me that Alex did this by mistake. Yeah right. Am I the only one that this happened to? I think not. Who can say if this will happen again? Who is going to stop it? I have spent 12 hours of my normal working day into resolving this issue and all I have is a automated customer service number that I can reach. I want justice!!!

Refused to refund my money
I had wanted to switch service over to Verizon VoiceWing. I was told by voicewing that they would take card of everything and I need not call Vonage to cancel.
After my number was transfered over to Voicewing, I watched my checking account. In November I was charged for Vonage. I called and they told me that my wife had to call because the account was under her name. I let it go for a while and then called back in December and got the same response. I finally told my wife to call and they refused to refund the month of November and part of October. They told her that the account was still available for our use. I then proceeded to call back and raise Hell. I told the stupid Indian (or what ever they were) customer service rep that the line was not available because the number was switched. The wind up was that Vonage refused to refund the month and a half because we called too late. I threatened to write an editorial in the paper about them, which I will do. I then explained that if nothing is done to my satisfaction, I will proceed with legal action and they told me to go right ahead. Whatever you do, do not get Vonage service. I am also going after my new company and speak to them about their policy of not contacting Vonage to cancel.

How to get out of Verizon Wireless Service
What most consumer don't realize is that Verizon and other mobile providers don't have to have the last saying regarding the contract.
I read many complaints here about VZW (I wrote one too) because of their lack of customer service. Well, you can even have a 2 year contract and then cancel after 3 months without paying the early termination fee. How? Very easy. By law, cellular phone providers cannot charge you if you reside in an area where service is not provided.
Get an address or po box in some town not covered by their service (see their service map coverage in their website, hint, most of Alaska is not served), do a change of address with Verizon or whoever. Do a temporary change of address with USPS to forward the mail to your current address (temporary USPS will not notify mailers of the forwarding address). Live happily every after.

Verizon worse than politicians!
I've been with Verizon for over 3 years. Over 6 months ago I referred a friend, who had been with Spring for many years and convinced him to switch to Verizon, I was supposed to get a $25 credit on my account for the referral.
As of today both he and I have spoken to several customer service reps at least 3 times each; every time they told me the credit would be on my next bill. Today I called again and now they tell me there is no evidence of that credit ever being requested. To access my friend's account I was asked for his SSN which I obviously don't have. I asked to speak to a manager, they wouldn't let me, but the rep I spoke to told me he spoke to a manager and she couldn't do anything about it. Now I'm sitting with a referral promise of $25 and no credit. None of the reps I spoke to in the past left any info on my account regarding this and every time I call I have to repeat myself. This time I was on the phone for 27 minutes with negative results. It's incredible how this billionaire companies spend ridiculous amount of money every year in advertising to attract new customer but don't spend a penny to keep those they have. My next step is to complain to the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Communication Commission, at this point is not even for the money anymore (my time is worth more than they stupid $25) but as a matter of principle.
VERIZON IS A LIAR. By complaining to the above entities it affects their overall rating and I encourage anyone who has had problems with them and any other dishonest company to do the same.
Verizon Wireless - We Never Stop Working For You. YEAH RIGHT!!

I was lied to and still I cannot receive any calls
My phone cannot ring when calls are coming in. It's over a week now , I have been calling repair service many, many times. Finally I asked to speak with a supervisor. She told me that Saturday, Oct. 7th, 2006 a repairman would be at my home between 8am to 7Pm . I waited all day and called several times to know the status and they told me the same thing , he will be here. I had to pick up my medication and couldn't do so because I was afraid I would miss the technician.
No one had called me with any information. They had my cell phone number. I waited , and I waited, all that time. Finally I was told they missed my home. I cannot believe that Verizon gets away with this kind of service. I am a senior citizen, and need my phone working properly.
I am so annoyed and feel so frustrated that I was lied to and still I cannot receive any calls.

Verizon North Late Fees
I always pay my Verizon North bill as soon as possible after my statement arrives. A few months ago, I noticed a late charge on my bill. I paid the bill in full, less the late fee, and told them there must be some mistake. On my next bill, the $3.50 late fee was marked as unpaid and a $3.50 late fee was added to that fee. I still got no satisfaction from Verizon, and the following month another $3.50 late fee was added to the late fee portion of my bill because I had refused to pay it. So I was charged $10.50 in late fees in all on a bill that was not late in the first place. Finally, I did get ahold of a representative who made an adjustment to my bill. However, I find that Verizon North is giving customers less time from the time bills are sent to the time they are due, which I am certain is an underhanded way to collect more in late fees.
