Yamaha Electronics Corporation Reviews

Terrible tech support
I bought 2 Yamaha receivers and they were the most complicated receivers I've ever had experience with. I'm good with home electronics. I've hooked up numerous surround systems in my day, but every time I've had to move these receiver and re-hook it up, it's been a time consuming nightmare. The biggest flaw of their systems is its inability to output digital sound to many areas (like zones). So if you hook up your satellite TV to this receiver via a digital output, you won't be able to hear any sound using the zone outputs (like for speakers in another room or outside). It's easy to forget this flaw and go crazy trying to figure out why there's no sound coming out of the speakers.

However, the worst thing about these receivers has been the tech support at Yamaha. The techs there are rude, condescending and unhelpful. If you don't have a degree in electronics, they act like you're an idiot. When I finally reached the head customer services manager, Chuck Hill, he also was extremely unprofessional, patronizing and condescending. I realized why his subordinates get away with it.

We've decided not to purchase any further Yamaha electronics as a result of the tech support and the manner in which they treat their customers. I've been very unhappy with their receivers and will be happy to replace them with those from another company.
