I just called this company after finding a collection on my credit report for the first time, even though the debt is from 2 years ago... my roommates never paid their share of our last months rent plus late fees plus carpet fees etc... and now (only now) I am finding out about it. I have otherwise great credit and never miss payments. I paid my share of the rent but because we all signed the lease together I am responsible for this debt.
