Last week I received a telephone call from American Express Canada. I have had an Amex card for 22 years. I think I was late once (by two weeks) in 22 years due to travel, and have not missed a single payment in the past few years. The condescending man who called said my balance was over my "six-moth average" and I needed to pay my card balance NOW, and he informed me that my card had been suspended.
