Sterling Works/earrings
Saurolophus March 24, 2010
Late 2009 my wife purchased a pair of silver earrings from Sterling Works at the Old Orchard Mall in Skokie, IL. Within a month of the purchase one of the earrings simply fell apart. My wife brought the defective earring back to the store for repair or refund. Unfortunately my wife no longer had the original receipt and the young salesperson insisted that her store didn't even carry earrings of that style. In response my wife pointed out similar earrings in a display case by the same designer in order to back up her claim that the... read full review »

Credit Card Services
Saurolophus August 1, 2009
We have received numerous unsolicited automated calls from Credit Card Services on our home telephone number despite the fact that our number is registered on the National Do Not Call Registry. On two occasions I have answered the calls and gone through the menu options until I'm speaking to a live operator. During each phone conversation I have requested that Credit Card Services take our phone number off of their calling list, at which point they immediately hang up on me. I do believe that Credit Card Services is a scam... read full review »

Thompson Cigar
Saurolophus February 5, 2009
Thompson Cigar keeps sending me almost daily e-mails promoting their tobacco products despite the fact that I've repeatedly filled out an online form asking them to stop. I don't even smoke cigars. Thompson Cigar spams. read full review »

Menards
Saurolophus January 29, 2009
In September 2008 I purchased a simple trouble light from a bin that stated that the products were $8 each. When I got the product home, I realized that I'd paid $11 for the light and the attached label indicated that the fixture had a 16 foot cord, but in reality the cord was more like 6 feet. I'd overpaid by $3 because the light had the wrong label attached to it. While $3 is really no big deal, I needed to return to the store anyway so I brought the light back and explained that what was obviously an $8 lamp had been... read full review »

Dean Markley PT-13 Chromatic Tuner
Saurolophus January 22, 2009
In October 2008 I purchased a Dean Markley PT-13 Chromatic Tuner from Guitar Center in Illinois for $59.99. Shortly after purchase, one of the tuner's LED lamps began behaving erratically, then stopped working entirely. Also at times the tuner "freezes" up and fails to operate at all. There is nothing in the accompanying manual about this behavior. I've repeatedly tried contacting Dean Markley via their online web form and telephone for over a month now, but they've responded to neither. While the tuner is still usable... read full review »

PayPal Merchant Services
Saurolophus January 2, 2009
As an independent business person who deals with many overseas clients, I've been a long-time user of PayPal's convenient online invoicing and payment services. PayPal traditionally requires some sort of bank collateral in order activate a user's account. In my case, it's been a Visa card I've used for several years. THE PROBLEM: Unfortunately earlier this month my Visa card info was stolen by an online vendor (NOT RELATED TO PAYPAL), so my bank canceled that Visa card an reissued me a new card with a new number... read full review »

Best Buy 2-year extended warrenty
Saurolophus December 26, 2008
In November 2007 my son's Playstation 2 wireless controller became unusable (a button began sticking). Since the malfunction was within the 2-year extended warranty, I referred to the Best Buy extended warranty brochure to see how I should proceed with replacing the product. The brochure stated that *before* I brought the defective product to the store I should get a return confirmation code by either calling an 800 number or filling out an online form. I opted for the latter and went online to fill out the form. After completing... read full review »
