I tried to redeem US Airways dividend miles for the first time. I'm flying to Alaska, from Austin. So, I tried to do in online, and got a message that I couldn't book this flight online. I called customer service, and they eventually said that I would have to upgrade to Y class to try to use my miles, which meant I would be redeming 50, 000 miles for what is normally a 25, 000 mile redemption.
