My Wamu credit card was absorbed by Chase and they immediately increased my interest rate to an ungodly 29.9% and reduced my credit line at the same time. After I paid off my account prior to the statement close, I assumed I would just leave it open and did not even pay attention to it any more. I did not expect to receive an addition finance charge for the few days that there was a balance before the payment was posted.
