I tried to cash out a CD I had with Sovereign. They asked me what I was doing with the money (none of their business), but I told them I was buying a car. They tried to convince me I was better off putting the money into a savings account there and taking out a home equity loan so I could deduct the interest from my taxes. Thing was, I was buying the car outright and didn't need a loan. Any tax savings I would have seen would have been much less then the interest I had to pay them!
