Pronounced tem-puh-roe-man-di-bu-lur, is a joint that connects the lower jawbone to the skull. It is a sliding hinge joint located on each side of the face just in front of the ears. As a joint, two bones meet here separated by an articular disc. This joint assists in the movement of the jaw aiding activities like talking and chewing. Apart from the bones, the joints have ligaments and muscles that facilitate movement. There are also nerves that assist in monitoring blood flow and as receptors.
