I wanted the illustrations to support the story without overpowering the writing. The illustrator took time to understand the characters and setting before creating the first sketches. I liked being able to review those early versions because it made it easier to suggest small changes. One illustration needed another round because the character's expression didn't match the scene, which added a little time. read full review »
